Hi, my 2014 z6 runs just fine, then just dies, usually on hills.  Turn the key and off we go again.  Starts right back up.  Any ideas why?

Mine does it when I put it in reverse only sometimes but after I clean the air temp sensor it quits for a few months. Yours I'll bet is a faulty connection somewhere or a bad ECU.

Mine did that for awhile too. Went away after awhile. I did do some work that had me reattach gounuds and battery connections.

Mine will randomly die like the ignition was turned off, starts right back up, has happened a lot less than it used to. Only once or twice this year. Happened like once a ride when I first got it. Only ever happens at idle.

When it happens does the cluster go out?

That's a great question.  I hadn't notices but will check it out as it might provide a clue.

not on mine, it is just like key on engine off when it stalls.

Same here with my Z 800.

Cluster stays active, but the engine stops. Usually at or close to idle.

Happens less frequently than when new but it happened once this last weekend.

My brothers Cforce 500 does this too.

I see that in warm up, haven't experience random shut down after that. Being random with an immediate re start makes it difficult to trouble shoot.

Add to that no data logging capability....ugh!

Well, here's an update on mine.  The mil light came on and started just blinking.  Took it in and had them put it on computer.  The ECU was sending a hi voltage to about all the sensors.  Replaced ecu and all is well.  Just for anyone who would like to know.
