Here is a head scratch er folks!  :o   2014 Zforce 600, 417 miles.   Doing routine maintenance and clean up today.  While trying to pin down a squeak coming from the exhaust muffler bushings I noticed the rear, passenger side forward shock mounting tab looked odd.  The forward top portion of the shock had rubbed itself on the forward most 'tab' causing an area of wear.

After a few choice words I compared the mounting tabs to the drivers side.   Both sides (forward and rear) of the drivers-side shock mounting 'tabs' are dimensionaly the same shape while the passenger side tabs are NOT the same same shape.  The forward most 'tab' is larger and longer with the 'longer' portion having rubbed/touched the top of the shock making itself a nice indent.   Noticed no damaged to the shock though (maybe harder material)

Had my brother in law bounce/rock the passenger side to see if I could notice any movement and found none.   Two my knoweledge the machine has never had a repair or replacement and the shocks, frame etc are all original (I.E stock)

Now I am worried--  is this going to cause me issues down the road?  Machine was in at the dealer for its 300 mile service two months ago with no defect noted and a clean bill of health.  I am not noticing any weird riding issues either.

Could the factory have screwed this up that bad when it was built?  Pictured attached.

Those of you whom have owned or currently have a Z600 notice the same thing?  Any help would certainly be appreciated.

LOL   That was you eh?  Small world!    As long as it wont cause damage, I can live with it. The shock already ground out the area it was touching and doesn't appear to making much if any contact any more.  Thanks again!

Long as that shock bearing stays tight it won't ride-up any higher...but someday..it will wear. Probably just squeaks anyway..

I removed the shock about 30 min ago- wore a grove in the shock and got on it with the dremel a bit.. A good 1/16" or more is going to have to come off. Will have to do that though tomorrow. Space is too small for a grinder unfortunately.  Do not see any elongation in the holes.  Shock inserts and rubber is intact and in decent shape.

If it wears I'd have to have a new bracket fabricated as it doesn't appear on CFMOTOs parts diagram, that those mounting brackets can be purchased separately.  .. unless I want to purchase an entire new frame.

The holes won't change unless the bolt get loose. Only the shock end bearing can wear and that will require a new shock for these. If the holes do ever egg, either just weld in the egg or throw some big washers on the bolt and weld them on the tab.

Roger that!

I posted the repair pictures on FB-  I decided to dive into it last night instead of waiting for today.  Once I removed the tire I had just enough room to get the angle grinder on the FWD tab.   Ground enough material off to where it no longer contacts the top of the shock.  Painted, reinstalled and torqued to 40 NM.   Put the torque wrench on the other shock mounts.  Only found one bolt loose.   The shock end bearing and rubber bushings appeared to be still in serviceable condition. Think we're on the up and up!
