The wife and I took our Z6EX out for a spin yesterday. Just a short 10 mile run on gravel roads. After we got home, I was sitting in a lawn chair relaxing and noticed a puddle of fluid underneath the rear of the machine.  I went to look at it, and found the right rear axle hanging out of the rear diff.  Of course this happened the exact day after my warranty expired. This axle did pop out once, immediately after we got it.  That time it only came out far enough to let it leak.  This time it is completely out of the diff.  I'm going to call the dealer Tuesday when they open and see if they will do any consideration for warranty since it was literally the day after it expired and the same axle they worked on before.

Is the snap ring still there? Or maybe it never was.

Good question.  Originally they told me that CF Moto had an issue with the snap rings, but that they checked this axle and it wasn't one of the affected axles.  I am guessing it is either an issue with the snap ring or the groove in the diff.  I'm just hoping that they will cover this under warranty.

Axles take a bit of effort to get out. I haven't seen a picture of your problem but I think your right on the snap ring or internal grove.

I just talked with the dealer and they are pretty confident they can take care of it under warranty. I am taking it up to them tonight.  Hopefully they can find what is causing the failure.

I spoke with the dealer and they are replacing the axle.  They say the differential is fine.  Unfortunately the axle is about a two week lead time from China.  Not a huge deal as long as it fixes the issue and it doesn't happen again.

Well, so far I haven't gotten my machine back. The first axle they got in, wasn't correct.  They are now still waiting for the replacement axle from CF Moto and according to the dealer aren't getting much response.  I'm still hoping for the best, but it is a little disappointing that it has taken this long.

I understand you can call CFMoto directly. That may help.

They should have these. And no answer from them, raise hell.

New update.  The new axle is installed.  Hopefully this one holds up.  I still don't have the machine back yet though.  I asked that they looked into a low idle issue I had been having.  They think the ECU needs to be reprogrammed.  They have to send it back to CF Moto for that to happen. 

Here is the latest, and hopefully final, update. I have the machine back.  The new axle they put in is approximately 1/4" longer than the one they replaced.  It sounds like there may be some slight variations on the mounting point of the rear differential on the chassis.  According to the service manager, they have only seen this happen on the right hand side and only on about 14 of the 100 Z6EX units they have sold. They also installed a new ECU to fix the idle issue.  They did take care of everything less $50 labor for the ECU since it was out of warranty.  Hopefully there won't be any other issues with the right rear axle.  I feel better knowing they did put in a longer axle.  The other when it was pulled out did seem short.

Good to hear they took care of it. 1/4" seems like a lot. Maybe they had a bad batch and you were the unlucky one in all of it.

I had a similar issue last year. After 2 axles and a couple of times them working on it, we got a new rear diff.   Make sure and double check your mounting bolts if the rear diff to frame, if they get loose, the diff will rotate and help cause the axle to pop out.
