So one of my tail lights is out (was when I got it) and the connection is melted on the harness side of the connection. I can order a new tail light, but not sure what to do about the connection. I suppose I can cut both connectors off and solder then direct, but wondering if anyone had any other ideas. Thanks!

Just replace the connector. There are lots of options on the market..just fid one with the same number of wires and splice it in... or just use individual connectors and tape them up.

Even this one...waterproof and has 4 wires but probably only need three.

Weatherpack connectors are a good option too. Crimp the terminals and push them into the holder. No soldering

On closer inspection it appears to be the bulb socket that melted. I suppose then I just need to find the bulb size and find a socket to fit, then splice that in.

I have seen sockets for almost every bulb base. Once you find what bulb is in there, should be easy enough.

Yeah, i'll just pull the bulb from the other side and find out what size it is
