Hi guys I just brought a 2012 600 the guy had a cylinder head, piston, rings, timing chain and guides he said he put 2000 mil on it sence then then one day a noise came in it. I thought first it was inside the clutch cover I removed the cover and belt but noies still there. I remove pull cord cover to put a wrench on the bolt see if there  was much play in the rod it dont seem like it and and the motor turns over freely. I wonder what it could be or if it is the crank gone. How do I post video

You must have a 600 atv because you mentioned recoil. Look in the x6 category, there is a manual there for you.  If the crank bearings might be bad than I would take the oil filter off and cut it open. Check the filter media with a flashlight looking for flecks of metal. If there is, you will need to take the engine appart to check everything.

There's a first. Never saw Snyper or Z Force with a pull-start. This we do need a pic of :)

A recoil would be great to have. If I wasn't afraid of removing the fan, I would try it.

If the filter has been on there for awhile and it is free of shavings, I would look elsewhere. If you want to get a look at the top of the Piston, you can buy a borescope that can be used with your laptop or smartphone. They are cheap. If it is hitting the head, you should see it when you look down the sparkplug hole.

There should not be any up or down play in it.  If so, you will need to replace the bearings and might as well replace anything else that might be questionable.

Slightly off topic question here.  Would you actually be able to pull start a z6 or a z8 with a dead battery?  I highly doubt it.  The fuel pump has to run to pressurize the fuel rail, the computer has to up to a certain voltage to run and send and receive inputs from sensors.  Enough voltage has to be present to actuate the fuel injectors.  I think it would take a lot yanking on a pull starter to build that voltage.  Not to mention there is no compression release on these engines.

On efi ATVs I I was able to get them to start if the battery had some charge to it. They did run bad for a bit. If it was completely dead, no way.
