Check out you tube for videos on using a multimeter. Not that hard and worth learning to use it. Give it a shot. You can always stop back and ask more questions.

The machine will die if the battery is disconnected while the machine is running regardless of the charging system working or not. The charging system simply keeps the battery at a adequate state of charge. The rest of the machine still needs the battery power to run.

Simple stuff... VAC into the regulator/rectifier (yellow wires, start the machine and probe across the three legs of stator), VDC coming out (grn and red, or red and black, 13ish to 14ish VDC)

Can I test the stator from the rectifier plug? I believe I tested the rectifier correctly and it seamed fine. I narrowed it down to the stator and battery,  the battery drops to 10v on start up and when the lights are on it drops to 12.28v and when I shut the lights off it goes to 12.53 so it's charging?  Must be the battery even though it takes a full charge from the charger?

That's not charging...at least not correctly. With no extra load and running it should be just above 14 volts and never drop below 13.7. It can still be the battery but I would be testing the stator per the manual.

I changed the rectifier,  wasn't that,  changed the battery,  wasn't that,  changed the stator and now it's charging!  Woohoo now I have a overheating problem. The gauge is pegged to hot after a few minutes but the hoses aren't even warm and the fan doesn't come on? I rebuilt the water pump, the only thing I can think of is the water pump isn't pumping?

Yes, that.. or the thermostat is stuck shut.

Do I need to bleed the cooling system?   I know when I opened the radiator cap coolant gushes out and it's not hot

Well, when you rebuilt the water pump and refilled the system, it should have been bled by running it with the cap off until the fan came on and confirmed there was flow and filled to the top before placing the cap back on. If that wasn't done and an air charge set in around the impeller, there may now be an issue with the pump but.. if so it should start leaking from the mechanical seal first. Is there any seepage from the weep? Also is there any way the pump's shaft can become detached from it's drive or the impeller? I haven't had one apart yet.

I put the cap back on after I filled it, I'm sure there was still air in the system.   Then started it and let it run.  I ran out of daylight, I'll look into it tomorrow more, thanks I'll post what I find out

I haven't had a cooling problem with my z6 yet, but other machines have been pesky to get the air out. I have gone as far as to pull the hose to the head and dump coolant down in there slow to make sure it was full. I would also check the thermostat too. I did see a hose coming off the thermostat housing in the manual. Not sure what it is, but might be a way to get air out.
