Just did this job this past weekend. The flange that sits in the filter is ribbed making it very hard to get the flange out. I stuck a flat head screwdriver in between the filter and flange and pried it out with no problems.

I ended up taking the hacksaw to the old paper filter (took less than a minute and I didn't bleed, which is always a concern when I'm using tools) and attacked the flange with a screwdriver from the inside, instead of from the outside, and it worked great.  Turned the adapter around as many have suggested.  Installed a Uni Filter NU-8503ST and it fit just fine.  The hardest part of the job remains getting the air box cover aligned and getting all the clips back on.

you can just loosen the clamp that holds the adapter to the air box and pull the filter and adapter as a whole unit...

Just flex the rubber part. There is a lip or flange on the end of that adaptor that goes past the rubber of the filter that helps hold it on,,,yeah..it works. You will have to remove that lip for the new filter.

OK, so now I have tried both the Uni Filter NU-8503ST and the UP-6245ST on my 2018 Z 1000.  Both with No Toil Evo, since I can't get filter oils here in spray cans or that are flammable.  The NU-8503ST is the much better choice for me.  It's longer, has a rigid internal frame, and doesn't have an internal flange that limits how far you can slide it on.  The 6245 does have such a flange so you can barely get it on far enough to be confident that it won't fall off.  The 6245 has a coil spring frame, with no cap or frame under the closed end at all.  The 8503 is easier to oil, as it doesn't have a large volume of foam anywhere that soaks up too much oil.  The 6245 has a large piece of foam at the closed end which sucked up a lot of oil, and I couldn't figure out how to squeeze out all the excess.  It became a gooey mess and I wasted lots of oil.  The second time I oiled the 8503 (after using it for a month and then trying the 6245) I had a much better idea of how to do it and didn't waste any oil at all.  I've now got a second 8503 (to swap out), and will use the foam from the 6245 in conjunction with the stock screen to try to reduce the dust that comes into the intake between the seats.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear.  For both filters I did swap ends on the intake tube.  The 8503 has no flange inside the filter itself to prevent you from jamming the tube into the filter an inch or two if you want to.  Plenty of bite for the clamp to hold on to.  The 6245 has a flange as part of the filter that prevents you from pushing the tube in more than about 3/8 of an inch.  Barely enough bite for the clamp to hold the filter in place.  I wasn't comfortable that it wouldn't fall off after getting bounced around for awhile.

So..is the end of the rubber on the filter too far in to drop the tube's lip past?

Yes, the interior diameter of the filter was sufficiently reduced by the flange to prevent the tube from going in any further.  I probably could have forced it, but didn't try.

In case people are visiting this thread. Buzzard has installed the correct/recommended air filter for the CF Moto Zforce 1000. This is per Unifilter's own website.
Head over here, and just start typing "cf moto" (include the space or you won't get results.

Unifilter recommends the following part #s:
All   CF Moto   All 2 1/4" Inlet   NU-8703ST   36.95
All   CF Moto   All 2 1/2" Inlet   NU-8709ST   36.95

So ZForce 1000 has a 2 1/2" inlet.

Hope that helps others like it has me! :)

Thanks. I'm sure it will. And I do believe we have that info along with some other UniFilters that will fit in our "Information Center".

Thanks. I'm sure it will. And I do believe we have that info along with some other UniFilters that will fit in our "Information Center".
Going by the information center, the filter listed for the U-Force 1000 (nu-8503-st) only has a 2.375 opening, per the Amazon listing in the 3rd question asked in this link.
https://www.amazon.com/Uni-Filter-NU-8503ST-2-Stage-Air/dp/B000HS6N5G
The correct number that has the 2 1/2" Inlet, should be  NU-8709ST per the Unifilter website.
Not sure what to purchase? Unifilter website has not been updated since 2019 when the U-force 1000 was introduced.
