While the 1st generation of any product usually has some fixes needed only time will tell with this one.
From someone who has went through a few 1st gen vehicles and toys; I'm somewhere in the middle regarding this one in terms of expectations. What worries me is the great case put forward by fairly experienced engineers at launch running up against the realities of cost pressures both here in late 2024 and beyond. I think that it's going to come down to the quality of less than visible internal materials used as BlackSheep indicated above over time versus the more obvious.
"..Since I work at a dealership (not power sports) I have some understanding of what putting money down can do for the dealerships order. It defiantly gives them some room to increase the order that they would put in. Since the dealer I'm working with is a smaller dealer this helps them stay in business. If I had to deal with one of the major powersports dealer I would be less inclined to fork over some cash
It's going to be a toughie for dealers re: that next (do it now or wait) order date in December/January as they are obviously being pressured with such long Z10 delivery date and now this threatened class action stuff. Not sure how you do not swing for the fences with this new car in terms of maximum allowable number ordered or afforded as $500 is not going to near fix a cancelled order anyways nor ease the pain of these apparently restrictive ordering periods should sales/resulting scarcity take off like a rocket. Also agree that you risk possibly throwing good money after bad if you trust any of the major dealers. They've got 'good' customers who will come in, take one look at your 'reserved' car (many dealers won't tell you that it's even there if they can get away with it), demand that they take it home...and that will be that. The smaller dealer that I'm working with presently won't even take a deposit knowing full well (as with the larger) that he's going to sell that car one way or another come this spring. He's not the least expensive in terms of set up/destination at $900 vs as low as the $600 that I've been quoted yet he can be at 50% more without a deposit requirement (imho).
For me, I'm still flabbergasted that I can't even get one story to match another regarding a dealer order date or delivery let alone any confirmation as to what the official position of CFMOTO might be re: these most recent Commerce Department threats.
Hard too get excited about something that even dealers (apparently) don't seem to care much about just before placing likely their largest CF orders to date.
On a side note I did apply for the Mid West Territory Rep for CF Moto. I'm sure my application is lost in the 1500 other applications for the position.
Well then publicly debunk just about everything that I've offered to date as a show of loyalty!
All kidding aside, good luck with that as I am guessing that this will be a great job should CF kill it in the marketplace with succeeding versions of the Z10. Heck, I'm not even sure that I want one now...yet I
would put a $1000 (or more) deposit down on one for late 2025 if that rumored 212HP with intercooler came in at 64"...
