Will the first Z10 owner(s) post here and why?
« on: September 15, 2024, 08:53:45 AM »
If anyone out there with a deposit down or future interest in this machine could attempt an answer to the above question well before delivery; all of us would benefit.
From my experience, there will be but one forum which captures both the sponsors and quality members willing to invest both their money and time in to any go to source for everything branded.
Either this value proposition goes underground Ala private social media accounts or it goes here (seemingly today).

I have money down,   but no conformation when the order will be placed.  At first was possible that it would be December.   But given what was posted about the US banning connected vehicles this might be a wish.

Blows me away that there are people that want something so bad.. that they would put money down on something that likely can't.. or won't be delivered in 6 months.. or longer. And the first of a new line ...with all those bugs to be worked out. Not me. I wish you all Good Luck.

As offered, my dealer says January at the earliest for his order. He has no idea when a Z10 will hit his dock other than the same estimate as every other dealer that I've contacted...March or April. I called one yesterday who had no idea that there was any problem whatsoever so I had to direct him to the latest on the net over the phone (speechless).

If I was a dealer(?)...I wouldn't want customers calling me to be educated on a matter such as this.

I agree. The dealers all should know everything about their relationship with all their product partners.

I've got nothing down save for a handshake with the dealer that I finally ended up with after my first foray in to a $500 deposit (now refunded) and $2100 set up/freight fees (I'm at $900 quoted presently).
.
"...the first of a new line ...with all those bugs to be worked out. Not me. I wish you all Good Luck."

I've been down this rabbit hole before with groundbreaking atvs/utvs and have been burned before so I wouldn't argue your premise. My attraction here is the price and the thought that has went in to this design. If nothing else, I have a decent 64" base platform likely to be parts interchangeable with much better cars soon to come. It's a lot easier to swallow problems and have fun tinkering around them with the benefit of the internet when you're not overpaying in the first place. You also have the option of simply cashing out for the same or more if these cars create a buzz, first reports are good and supply is what it will likely be in the spring.
I've never been the guy who likes to watch other people have fun while waiting to pull the trigger just about the time that something much better releases. It's nothing but a never ending game that many of us have played for decades.
If this is all allowed to play out in terms of CFMOTO's near term goals then the above is exactly what will happen:
You'll buy a Z10 after 'the bugs are worked out' and then that brand new 64" 212 HP supercharged motor with intercooler as released in the most recent patent drawings will drop the very next day...and believe me...you'll be pissed (by design).

The longer that your point drags on is just bad for dealers in general.
Any current perception that nobody knows anything up to and including the banishment of the product here in the U.S. simply hurts the brand.
I have certainly thought less of whether CF management is even capable of playing with the big boys in this sport given their total silence for approaching a week now.

While the 1st generation of any product usually has some fixes needed only time will tell with this one.

I don't mind putting some money down on something that is going to be several months away.   I'm already making payments to myself while I wait for it to come in so why not make one to the dealer to secure a spot.   Since I work at a dealership (not power sports) I have some understanding of what putting money down can do for the dealerships order.   It defiantly gives them some room to increase the order that they would put in.  Since the dealer I'm working with is a smaller dealer this helps them stay in business.  If I had to deal with one of the major powersports dealer I would be less inclined to fork over some cash.

On a side note I did apply for the Mid West Territory Rep for CF Moto.  I'm sure my application is lost in the 1500 other applications for the position.

From someone who has went through a few 1st gen vehicles and toys; I'm somewhere in the middle regarding this one in terms of expectations. What worries me is the great case put forward by fairly experienced engineers at launch running up against the realities of cost pressures both here in late 2024 and beyond. I think that it's going to come down to the quality of less than visible internal materials used as BlackSheep indicated above over time versus the more obvious.

It's going to be a toughie for dealers re: that next (do it now or wait) order date in December/January as they are obviously being pressured with such long Z10 delivery date and now this threatened class action stuff. Not sure how you do not swing for the fences with this new car in terms of maximum allowable number ordered or afforded as $500 is not going to near fix a cancelled order anyways nor ease the pain of these apparently restrictive ordering periods should sales/resulting scarcity take off like a rocket. Also agree that you risk possibly throwing good money after bad if you trust any of the major dealers. They've got 'good' customers who will come in, take one look at your 'reserved' car (many dealers won't tell you that it's even there if they can get away with it), demand that they take it home...and that will be that. The smaller dealer that I'm working with presently won't even take a deposit knowing full well (as with the larger) that he's going to sell that car one way or another come this spring. He's not the least expensive in terms of set up/destination at $900 vs as low as the $600 that I've been quoted yet he can be at 50% more without a deposit requirement (imho).
For me, I'm still flabbergasted that I can't even get one story to match another regarding a dealer order date or delivery let alone any confirmation as to what the official position of CFMOTO might be re: these most recent Commerce Department threats.

Hard too get excited about something that even dealers (apparently) don't seem to care much about just before placing likely their largest CF orders to date.

On a side note I did apply for the Mid West Territory Rep for CF Moto.  I'm sure my application is lost in the 1500 other applications for the position.

Well then publicly debunk just about everything that I've offered to date as a show of loyalty! ;)
All kidding aside, good luck with that as I am guessing that this will be a great job should CF kill it in the marketplace with succeeding versions of the Z10. Heck, I'm not even sure that I want one now...yet I would put a $1000 (or more) deposit down on one for late 2025 if that rumored 212HP with intercooler came in at 64"...  8)
