Disappointed in historic(?) release delay
« on: September 05, 2024, 05:39:46 PM »
I would really appreciate anyone telling us all how the CFMoto dealership structure works.
I'm hearing that even the larger dealers will have to wait until December to place their orders right along with all of the smaller shops who said "why not?" years back and had equal success. I was swayed in to placing a deposit on one with a promise of 30 to 60 days from a larger dealer claiming to be the largest by volume in the U.S. with but one location (should have been my first clue).
The kicker?
No machines will be delivered to anyone(?) before next March or April.

"Disappointed' is probably not accurately describing my true feelings here.

...also trying to conceive of just how many Z10s(4s) will have to be ready for release so many months from now to satisfy even a fraction of the demand that will have been built up since last week.
No problem if CF makes a running list available to dealers of who gets what having ordered when yet I have never heard of that being done for any potential customer's sake to a dealer's detriment.

I live in a medium sized city in the southwest my dealer keeps telling me mid October they spotless start receiving the new machine.  But after seeing this thread I wonder if they are just blowing smoke. I've read that they are available in Florida at this point but I'm skeptical.  Looking forward to any info. Thanks for the input.

Yeah I appreciate that rumor as well and any further info will be shared here as I hear it.
None of us trust these guys (for good reason, over many decades) pretty much across the board. I've dealt with a lot of them and a good share will sell one right out from under you in a heartbeat for either an extra buck or simply a favor to whoever not willing to wait and demanding not to.
Very strange discrepancies that I'd like to stay on top of daily as you would I'm sure.

btw I was told mid-October too when I signed the check and then got a voice mail saying otherwise. CFMoto should be coming clean on this yesterday. Not a good look for their most ambitious project ever or the integrity of their distribution network.

Except in the Covid area, CFM has been .."fairly".. consistent with bringing the new model year's to the dealers between October and January. This however is a new offering so...fingers crossed. :) Our local dealer, Bobby "J"s, although they have had a bit of a checkered past, the last 20 years or so they have been pretty solid straight-shooters so if they say October...that means they were given that date by CFM and not something they made up to get an order.

Well, I really appreciate you as well for coming forward with that.
What boggles me is this consistent claim between multiple dealers contacted of even a 'black out' period for Z10 *orders* until December let alone any April/May delivery for those first in line.
Talk about alienating everyone and for what reason?
These are the type of rumors which absolutely kill initial sales and create doubt in the minds of potential first time customers.
Why am I committing to a car this far out as they concurrently work feverishly to introduce a much better/wider version likely to drop at the same time or before given these crazy lead times?
Beginning to think that this is all a sign to simply wait/get my deposit back.
I don't mind getting burned in this shady business as I've been there/done that more times than I care to admit..
Yet it would really jerk my chain if I saw all of the signs and simply ignored them (again).

...on the other hand...
...if CFMoto screws around with their dealers and does not treat them all equitably (first come/first served *two weeks ago* or on a rolling lottery basis whenever all? orders are somehow weirdly 'approved' in the distant future) let alone $500 depositors being told umpteen different stories at the moment:
At least the first depositors 'might' (which at this point is a stretch given the current malarkey) receive more of a time-tested machine by whoever will be beating on them under the radar or not until next spring.
Tough position (and in my opinion unnecessary/unrewarding for everyone save a few) for a whole lot of us out there willing to put our money down on these now/frankly support the cars in a traditional manner.
Too many questions at the moment clouding what should have been an easy sell.

Yeah that information just sparked an upcoming conversation with my own.
A lot of times (just from experience) you'll have folks like us jump in uber early when something groundbreaking is released who aren't necessarily 'preferred customers'. We then are simply 'in the way' of those who are and who want to be the first to own one or the dealer himself wanting one to sit on their showroom floor for an undetermined amount of time.
In other words, they will intentionally piss off someone at a much later date to either swallow their non-refundble deposit or simply refund it as they had no intention of selling it to them anyways with many shafted forced to swallow their anger/say/do absolutely nothing as they know full that they would (then) be so far down the list that saying anything would screw themselves over even more.

Thanks for the latest rumor. I/we truly appreciate it.

They must be getting close to a release I hope.

The official CF Moto site now has more accessories listed on the site so moving along slowly I guess.

I'm just not seeing or hearing any indication that the release will be before March or April yet I'd love to hear differently.
