Is the upper a arms supposed to have slight play from front to back, got a funny feeling the bushes may have gone

They shouldn't but will as the shoulder of the bushing wears against the a-arm mount. This is why when I rebuilt mine I installed nylon wear-washers on all mine. This stopped the wearing on mine. It does require you to shave a little off the bushing shoulder and custom sand the washer to fit..but it was worth it. I think I mentioned it in one of my bushing videos.

Just spacers but not metal. I tried metal washers but they wore just as fast if not faster. Nylon washers with a 5/8" inside hole diameter and I think they were 1.25" outside diameter. I think I have a pic or two of one...:
