4wd actuator
« on: November 05, 2025, 05:34:39 AM »
I have a 22 zforce 950. I had the wires rip off my actuator. Bought a new one, plug it in and nothing. Checked fuses and relays under the hood and they are fine. The wire colors on the new one are not the same as the original so im not sure if it got pinned wrong. What should I look at? Is there more fuses that aren't under the hood?

The first thing you have to ask yourself is if I bought the correct actuator for this machine, why are the wires not the same color. I assume the connector is the same and it does plug into the harness with no modifications...right? Next, what state was the actuator in when it got it's wires ripped-out and...how did this happen? Bad luck with tree branches? What? On the older ones the switch controls power to some relays which sends power to the actuator motor. Might consult the manual and test those relays..and the switch..because we all know they are of the highest quality...lol

It is the proper actuator, not sure why the wires are different colors. Wires got ripped out by a stick. I have checked all fuses and relays. I noticed tonight that on the cluster the 2wd and 4wd light do not come on but the 4wd lock one does. I will pull the switch and test it.

I wouldn't think the LOC indicator could come on without being in 4WD because I thought...and I may be wrong...that the contact for that LED is in the actuator. I'm wondering if that stick not only pulled the wires out of he actuator, but maybe ripped some loose in the connector or harness above it. Hoping it didn't short something and took-out a circuit board in the dash.
