I wanted to have an extra CVT belt on-hand in case I suffer a break down on the trail.  My local dealer said he is able to order the replacement belt for $250 and it would take 3 or 4 days to get in.  Has anyone identified the belt dimensions and found a suitable Gates belt for trail repairs?  Gates belts are usually $55-$75, which is sure better than $250.

Welcome. Glad you were finally able to get registered. I don't think Gates is making a belt for the 1000 yet but I may be wrong. However we do recommend the Ultimax UA485 for the 1000s. We also have that in our information center. Here's a link:  http://cfmoto-forum.com/information-center/recommended-drive-belts-for-cf-motos/

The Z800 and z1000/950 are not listed as same belts and they are not the same belt.  Cfmoto and Ultimax both list them as different and I would not use one on the 950 that is from a Z800. They are 2 total different clutch setups and The 2 brands above list them as different for a reason.

OEM CFMOTO BELT NUMBERS...
This shows they are indeed different belts.  They are very expensive but they are the best belt to use if you want the best...
Z800
0800-055000-0001

Z950
0JWA-055000-10000

For the 950/1000 we recommend the Ultimax UA485.
UA484 is Zforce 800.

I put a gates on my 950 after burning up the ultamax. Probably my driving and not saying they are bad belts.

How is that Gates belt working out for you?  I need to replace mine on my Z1000, I've had the Ultimax UA485 before and did not like it and put the original back on, but I broke it this weekend.  I'd rather get another OEM belt before the Ultimax but it's double the price at ~$360cad and god knows how far away.  Waiting to hear back from a dealer on price and availability for it before I buy an aftermarket.

Just a wear/life update for anyone wondering, I inspected my stock belt recently.  After 5,500kms my stock belt width is now at 34.5mm, measured with calipers flat across a few outside teeth.  new gates belt is 35mm. service life is 33.5mm so about 1/3rd of life used.  No signs of cracking or anything else.
