Does anyone know the stock clutch setting . My belt exploded this weekend and when taking the secondary apart there was tension on the spring and when I gave it a tap you might say it came alive and in doing so popped out slots so I'm not sure of the settings. THANKS

All are B1 from the factory. You should try C1.

Is there a chart somewhere that explains the differences in the settings and where the that setting will change the power band at? for instance, I am looking to have more climbing power. I can cruise around 40 on the flats but as soon as I hit a hill it drops to about 25 which is still decent considering I am around 275, have full glass windshield up front and usually around 40 lb of recovery and other gear that I usually take with me. I don't mind losing some top end, I just want to be able to pull up the hills better.

Below is the chart that shows the degrees of preload each gives setting. That's all there is. What you have to remember is that...it's only a 500..and it's in the same machine basically as they put 800s and 1000s in. And that little motor only has so much to give. Being in the middle of it's power band is the best you can do. Others that have tried many setting on their 500s and 600s and found that C1 is the best place. Farther actually hurt performance.

I set mine on c1 and have only had a chance to try around yard but seams fine . Had no complaints with the way it worked power wise with factory setting .  Like it was mentioned it is a 500 with about 38hp hauling 1000lbs plus

I definitely don't mind the performance, I just want to try and climb hills better. For the riding that I do the 500 is perfect for me as I almost never go top speed as the trails are way too rocky, it's only the flat forest service roads where I even try to go 40. Has anyone tried a fuel controller on them? I have heard bad things about them so I am very hesitant to try one.

I'm just curious to why your belt exploded. Was it due to mileage and age or did you run your unit in high range all the time even at very slow speeds and on long or steep grades? Thank you, just trying to avoid this especially while out on the trails.

I would say mainly age and 5600km but I,m not saying I didn,t burn the belt a couple of times . In hind site when I was checking it over  before taking it out this spring I should have removed the clutch cover and done an inspection Lesson learned
