Some of the early production 2016/17 500s still had wet clutches and didn't need a puller to take it off. This is shown in the manual. If there is a bearing in the CVT cover and the clutch was held on with a nut and a shaft sticks out past the primary that goes into that bearing, you have one with a wet clutch and it must be just stuck. Otherwise it needs a puller....I do believe. :)

Still in the process now. had to wait for a few tools and parts to arrive from the US (clutch tool & new clutch bearings) Old chain was pretty stretched and the chain guides also worn to shizzz so im hoping replacing all of these corrects the issue even though the new chain and sprocket still are not perfect... fingers crossed for many more miles.

also, side note. there is a little plastic guide in the lower end, just under the timing chain. When i opened the case up, this guide was sitting on the bottom of the block.. is this plastic guide necesary or just more of a saftey precaution incase you let go of the chain when doing head work?

i dont know if this piece came off from the work im doing, or fell off a while ago and could be causing me problems! can i leave this part off?

I would say they only put in the minimum requirements so it must be needed...so replace it...whatever it is.
