New belt
« on: June 28, 2020, 05:03:47 PM »
Just installed a new ultimax 483 belt on my 2016 500 zforce with the clutch set at c1 . Have only driven about 60km bike works fine but when I try to shift it seams to bind like there is pressure on it . If I shut it off it will shift fine . Hoping that after I drive it a bit things will work into place ,it's such a BIT#$ to get at the clutches to check things there . According to the info I can find the 483 belt is 1/32 of an inch longer than stock and the same width .

Now that they aren't using the wet clutch it is more then critical that the width be correct. At idle the belt had to ride on the idler bearing and not touch either side of the primary's spinning sheaves. If you are feeling this pressure...it must be touching or there is a problem with the bearing...so I suggest you check it. The manual gives the correct width of the belt.

When I took it apart the bearing seamed fine and there was no binding with the old belt so I am guessing it must be touching a little at idle
