Front driven pulley, variator. removal
« on: November 11, 2018, 08:23:33 AM »
has anyone ever managed to get the whole pulley off of the crank, I have tried a few methods without success like a slide hammer and a three leg puller but still stuck on, got the outer part off after removing the left hand threaded bolt and nut which was a pig to compress, line up the hex' washer and plate and reassemble on the inner part but cannot get that inner half off.

Still trying to get the inner sheave of the drining pulley off, outer I can remove with a simple compressor and the LH threaded bolt but the inner, no way Jose.
We also had a belt explode, damaged the driven pulley to such an extent it bent the outer sheave and the bump stops on the back broke up, so all new.

to remove it properly you need a special toll to remove it. there are tools made for that kind of jobs. I maneged to remove mine by accident when i changed my belt because i used a airdriven bultknocker and the screw was stuck so bad i maneged to knock of the whole primary clutch and brake the nylon sliders on my 520. So my advice get a propper tool otherwise it can get expensive

I though as much, didn't want to go at it with the ol' three legged puller as I am sure it would bend the sheave.
We have ordered ALL the workshop tools but so far just the flywheel puller and an OBD2 reader arrived.
