To answer your question, most CFM engines are running lean enough that you may well see some glowing in the pipes right off the heads in the dark...and the stainless material is pretty thin. I would check the plug and see how it's burning, maybe check the valves myself just to be sure. There are also some other tests you can do to test the A/F ratios but that takes some equipment.
