Short story:   That fuel pump retainer ring that's always loose and I can't believe hasn't been recalled due to fuel leaking all over the place...
Mine won't stay tight. The ring is made of soft (more rubber than plastic) material and it gets tight, then oblongs, then will jump a thread in a day or two and it's loose again.

I'm willing to bet that one off a different UTV/ATV would fit, as there's likely only a few sized of these things.   I checked and AllBalls sells replacement rings (as do other companies....) and one part seems to cover all Polaris applications, and a 2nd part # for all CanAm, etc...
Checking CFMoto parts diagrams for tons of different models and years, they pretty much all seem to also have the same part number. (7020-120101)
Dollars to donuts THAT is the exact same as the one that fits Polaris...or CanAm...or...     The problem is, I don't have access to one of the other models to measure it.
Also, I can't find where any of the aftermarket suppliers actually give the size of the ring...they just list them by vehicle fitment.

The OD of mine measures 141mm or 5.55 inches.  That's the OD of the ring, measured between the ribs.    Anyone have access to measure one of the other makes and maybe there's one that matches up?    No, not an exact science, but I'm betting that there's only a few standard sizes, and am willing to risk wasting $40 to order one and try it.

I'm seriously at the point where I don't even ride this thing because our trails always have deep(ish) water holes and any water that reaches or splashes on the top of the tank will go IN the tank.

Also, if there's someone reading that's familiar with this ring, and knows what I mean when I say that it's 'soft' and will stretch and jump a thread....have you replaced the ring with a CFMoto replacement, and maybe a new one is stiffer?

I was even thinking maybe a few wraps of electrical tape on the tank threads to 'thicken' them up a bit.
Maybe get it sung and then clamp it with a BIG hose clamp....

I stress:  The ring isn't backing off.  It's jumping a thread and that leaves it loose the equivalent of a full turn.

Anyone able to assist?   Want to team up and find an aftermarket replacement ring that'll fit?   Suggestions?

It's a terrible design, and one that should have been done-away with long ago..like the engine air intake. Better to have it bolt straight down on the tank with steel flange and O-ring like other vehicle tanks. Might just have to buy several rings and see..with your fingers crossed like I did when exploring the idea of the remote oil filter. CFM like most Chinese companies take someone else's idea and modifies it enough to side-step and copyright or patent issues..like adding a 1/2mm here and there or change a thread pitch.

I can offer one thing from my experience on these rings, and that is- when I had mine out..fixing my loose & leaking ring, I found that the ring was loose enough on the tank threads that it would thread on partly cross-threaded unless it was perfectly straight and the starting on the ring threads started with the starting point of the tank threads. I had to mark both and line them up. I was able gently tap on all sides to tighten it but because the threads were so loose I knew it wouldn't take much to jump them. As I tapped on each side I could see the ring sliding side to side on the pump plate so I made an effort to try and keep it in the center so the threads all had even pressure. I was ready to wrap some teflon tape on the tank threads to help with the fitment but didn't have to. To date..and that was back in 2017, it had never come loose or leaked. I'm thinking if you can get a new CFM ring and use some teflon tape...and start the threading straight, you might have a shot at ending this issue.

Some pics. I cut the plastic out so I could not only pull the pump straight out, but get that fk'n ring straight:

I figured you'd be the first one to reply...hehe
You know, it's funny, because of this stupid $3 piece of crap ring, I would never even consider buying a CFMoto anything again.  I went to the dealer about it...they wouldn't acknowledge that I even said anything and essentially said that if I had a warrantable concern that I should let them know.  ie: "We know, we aren't doing anything about it, piss off."
Several people have asked me how I like the ZForce and I tell them, and they likely cross it off their list.   It's too bad because it's literally the only thing I will complain about. The rest of the bike is great.   But I have a $10,000 paperweight...can't use it, water splash will get in the tank. Can't wash it, if any water goes under the seat, it'll run into the tank.   It's maddening.

I worked at GM for years and did warranty admin, and I shudder when I hear people screaming for a recall for the least little thing...that's not really how it works.    But, this is gasoline...running on the ground.  Where's the gas going to go if one of these flips over.?...all over the occupants who are strapped in with gasoline pouring on them.

this isn't some one-off issue that one person had.   You said 'hundreds' of them were loose from the factory.  RedNeckGarage guy has actually made a video about his not staying tight....lots of posts of people with gas running on the ground or ending up with water in their tank.   It's not okay CFMoto!

Okay...rant over...   Mostly.    I'll hang on and maybe someone has a PoPo or CannedHam in their garage and can see what size their ring is, and if I find one that seems right, I'll grab it.

Bet the C/A's will be the closest but..no cigar. They copied it and changed it.. just a little. If it were mine I would just get a new seal and ring and a little loc-tite, get it on straight and tight with some loc-tite on the threads. Worked for most everyone else. As long as the tank threads are OK.
