2021 Zforce 500 Trail
« on: April 07, 2021, 10:03:06 AM »
Recently sold my 2016 Cforce 400 and bought a 2021 Zforce 500 Trail. It was the last SxS my dealer had and last they will be getting that hasn't already been purchased ahead of time/pre-ordered. I'm picking it up today in fact. I'm ordering the TerraRider front and rear windshields and Uni Filter today and one of three different door choices soon.
I've been reading and watching videos for weeks leading up to today but not much specifics on the 2021 is available yet.
Is there anything in particular I should watch for, get ahead of, or whatever? I've been without a machine for weeks so I'm excited to ride this.
Thanks

Take a few minutes and go over every suspension, steering-related and engine/component bolt and nut you can get to and check for correct torque. Also double check that all the cotter pins are in the ball joints and/or tie rod ends. Battery cables bolts. Get that new Uni on ASAP and avoid riding in heavy dust before. Shoot some lube in all suspension bushings and sway bar bushings. Make sure she's full on oil and coolant. Then go and have some easy fun while breaking it in. :)

Thank you, I will do all that. Hopefully there are many greasable parts on this.

Question. My 2016 400 had several coolant issues and eventually the waterpump seal failed almost ruining the engine. The coolant that was in that machine was terribly cheap crap that was actually kind of goopy.
Is this still an issue in your experience? I'll check mine out today but is it smart to add a small amount of lubricant now while it's new to get ahead of those issues?
What oil do you recommend in this machine? I ran synthetic low viscosity in my old machine since its cold here in NY winters. Summer time recommendation?

I'm still considering the 3 or 5 year warranty. I have a year to decide. I'm not sure since I don't want to void it by putting a snorkel on or something.

The coolant is better today but still sub-standard so yes, change it out at some point. Adding a little water pump lubricant is always a good idea but remember..its only a 2-quart or so system so only about a 3rd of a cup. After break-in yeah, a good synthetic is good. go bu the manual but a good 0,5,or 10W40 is fine all year....well for you maybe the 0 or 5 for the winter would be better...lol
