Front differential leak

Discovered the black 4x4 actuator box was leaking gear oil. Finally got the box off and took it apart and discovered gear oil inside of it. My question is, is gear oil supposed to be inside of there or not?

No. None should be in that part of it. Just light grease on the drive gears and parts.
