Clutch Upgrade on CForce 600 2022
« on: April 19, 2023, 08:15:03 PM »
I upgraded my stock clutch (Primary spring- 0951-1013... Gold-Yellow-Blue... 200 - 400 rate and 10g weights... to a 0951-1016 ... 200-1200 spring and 16g weights).
I had to use this tool from MSC in order to remove the primary bolt and nut...https://www.mainstreetcycle.com/shopping/item/2230/primary-clutch-holding-tool
I haven't had a chance to ride it much since the swap but I can feel a huge difference on the low gear end. It is much peppier and it starts moving approximately 300 to 500 rpm sooner than stock.
I also noticed that in 2wd Low the cruising speed of 20mph had a much lower RPM than stock but the power was still there.
So far, this clutch set-up seems to be much better than stock.

I got the same spring and weights. Did you reclocked secondary spring /helix? If so, which position?

If not, why didn’t you?

My 2023 Cforce 600 touring is completely stock. What’s is the suggestion in this case?

I would do as Warmonkey did above to the primary and go with C1 on the secondary. The 5 and 600s love C1.

@warmonkey, did you change the helix also?
The components that you listed, are they from Main Street also?
cheers

I also installed a stage 1 clutch kit from MSC on my 600 touring. Made a big difference. Did not reclock secondary or install new helix. Primary spring and weights only. Staying with stock wheels and tires so nothing else really necessary.Highly recommend unfilter air filter over paper one. 2400 miles and belt and sheaves still look new. Always ride 2 up.

1. How much top speed did you lose?
2. Did you need to buy the PRIMARY CLUTCH HOLDING TOOL?
3. Did the clutch kit increase the gas mileage?

No notice of losing any top speed. I used a impact wrench to loosen primary nuts. Have not monitored gas mileage before or after.

I am still running the same setup but it seems like it is using a lot more fuel now. I haven't done any testing to confirm that yet. I am really not sure about any top end loss as I mainly stay in Low most of the time so I haven't really tested that part much.Has anyone tried a different set of springs and weights? I may go ahead and get the full stage 3 kit w/Helix from MSC or from RNG to see what kind of difference that makes. I have heard really good things about the Helix change with their kit but I am still unsure of what spring and weight combo they use.
If anybody has any experience with the MSC stage 3 kit or the RNG kit  I would like to hear any comments you have about it.

I put a MSC stage 1 kit in my 21 600T. Hated how "buzzy" and high revving the bike was overall. Honestly, I was expecting a bit more improvement after all the hype I heard about it. Seems to just lower the clutch engagement slightly for smoother takeoff but honestly I don't notice much else. Haven't ridden enough to notice any MPG loss. Part of me wants to get the helix (would essentially make it the stock tire performance kit) as well but with that comes the added expense of the compression tool, clutch holder, etc and I'm not sure if it'll be worth the cost
