Ok I am getting some mixed numbers but here it is. I am looking to haul my 6x10 open trailer behind my atv. Some sources say 800 lbs and some say 1000 lbs.

Now I won't be hauling a ton of stuff just with some lumber and maybe some drywall. And not far away maybe 1/4 of a mile.

Any suggestions or experiences?

Normally it will depend on the power and weight of the towing vehicle. Without trailer brakes usually one doesn't want to exceed the weight of the towing vehicle..which in this case also includes the operator. It must also include the weight of the trailer itself so...how much does that 6x10 weigh? As for power...well..I guess if you start burning-up belts or has a problem moving or going up hills even in low range.. one could say it's overloaded a bit. Load on the engine also has to include the load on the tow vehicle which includes the operator, any gear and the weight on the toque. The difference between 800 and 1000 pounds is minimal and won't make much difference especially if the travel-zone is level. Be mindful of the toque weight as these are having issues with bending hitch and sometimes frame parts. Good luck. On a side note I've seen people pull insane things and get away with it. Safety first though.

It looks like the trailer is about 700 lbs. Moslty the area is flat. However there is a hill that I will have to go up to get the trailer where I need it. I think my 600T is about 900 lbs and I'm 175 lbs.
