2020 Cforce 600 Touring RPM and MPG
« on: September 27, 2020, 12:12:21 PM »
I just purchased a 2020 Cforce 600 touring and I have a couple concerns. The first thing that concerns me is the RPM. They seem very high. it runs between 4K - 5K when riding and I have never had an ATV that ran this high on RPMs. Is this normal for the cforce 600?

Also, Is the MPG on the machine very low. Twice I have taken a 60 mile ride and by the end the fuel meter is showing 1/4 tank or empty. Yesterday we went 30 miles and the fuel tank said full, but when we did the 30 mile trek back the fuel gage said almost empty. It wasn't a super hard ride either. Couple of hills, but nothing insane. Is it possible that the fuel gage on these are malfunctioning? I feel like I should get a lot more than 60 miles on a tank of gas

Wish I could help you. Hopefully another 600 owner will chime in. In the meantime there have been some reports of both higher then normal RPMs and fuel gauge problems. I can't help but think running at those RPMs is killing gas milage. One dealer said it was normal where another found a problem with the clutches.

I purchased a 2020 CForce 600 touring and my experience pretty much mimics yours. A full tank get me around 65 miles of mild trail riding. RPMs stay 4500-5500 the whole time. There is another post on here somewhere in which the guy being concerned about the RPMs contacted CF Moto and was told not to worry about it. I'll be interested to hear from more people about this.

Me and my son both bought 2020 600 single seats, both have the exact issues as yours, bought my wife a 19 600 2up for Xmas and only has the gas gauge issue, read empty at 1/2 tank, so I took the sender out and bent the float rod to read more accurate, I haven’t taken the 2020’s apart yet but I’ve never put more than 2 1/2 gallons in when they read empty, as far as the rpm issue it feels like the 19 and the 20 have different clutch setups, yes they run at higher rpm at just cruising but when you punch it seems like it accelerates quickly with not a whole lot more rpm. My Z500 is also a totally different feel, clutch grabs at a way lower rpm and uses no gas at all, I figured all the dry clutch setups would be pretty much the same but I’m sure there’s a lot more to it than I understand, would reclocking or changing weights lower the rpm mabe? NMK?

Heavier rollers/flyweights would bring the RPMs down but will also make the engagement sooner as well. Need it to engage at least 300 RPMs higher then idle. Much less and you may not be able to disengage on the way down. IF by chance they have the secondaries clocked higher then B1, bringing them back down will also drop the RPMs but not change the engagements. It would be good if someone pulled one down and let us know what rollers are in it and where the secondary is clocked to from the factory. If these are running at 4-5K all day long no wonder your millage sucks.

Ok so I pulled the 2020 600 apart and found it is set at B-1, I gotta go get some all thread and make a tool now but I think I’m gonna go to B-3 like the guy in the real sports video and see where it goes from there, no markings on the weights but not color coded either- see pics, any other advise while I got it apart?

B3??? I don't know of anyone that has gone to B3....even the 1000s. And I don't think the 600 can develop enough power to overcome that resistance..it might..but... it may not shift well, up or back...and if it does it may not be more then half way which will kill your top end. From all the input, the 500s and 600s like C1 the best.

Let me know if this lowers the RPM. I'm curious if it will and would love to lower them.

It absolutely will not. More preload will raise it. The primary has to generate enough force to overcome the spring resistance of the secondary and that's done with flyweights and centrifugal force. To get more force, it just takes higher RPMs. To lower the RPMs lower then what B1 has, you also can use either heavier flyweights...and a gram or two each is all it takes, or use a lighter return spring. Got to be careful not to go too far though because this also lowers the RPMs it disengages...too far and the clutch might not disengage. These engines idle way too high IMO...I wonder why they need to.

Only had time to take it for a quick blast but it’s definitely different, pulls much better off the line and seems more comfortable putting in low speeds, still at 5k @ 20-25 mph and still hit 53 before I ran out of room, Couldn’t see rpm, I’ll try to get out soon For longer but we’re supposed to get some heavy rain the next few days (boy do we need it) thanks again nmk for saving me on that B3 setting, I’m getting a better understanding how these work now that I’ve had it apart

Good. You might have had to have a strap wrench and cheater pipe to twist the helix enough to set it on the ramps on B3. Still some things about the new 600s that have me scratching my head but in time...and together.. we'll figure it out. One thing I heard was that the new 600s have more power then the old ones and one reason was they run them in the power band more...which does mean higher RPMs.

Morning all,
I just finished 3 days of riding in the final days of season in Pittsburgh NH.
My 2019 6002up, definitely only see's around 100miles in the tank give or take a few, I keep extra tank on the back as a backup in case, but way up there there are tons of MOGAS places to stop.
thnx

That's great news. But November 30th? That's just a few days shy of two months. Wow.
