Leota to Houghton Lake Michigan and Back
« on: November 01, 2015, 09:43:20 AM »
This is a route I take a lot. The trail is fun and I know it well. Plus there is a bar with delicious food.

Well, last night... i had a bit of an uh oh, at 11pm none the less half way back...

Yes, it was raining. Hard. Lucky for me i had my rain gear on. I just shut the lights out and hid in the cab until help came about an hour and a half later.

I'm ok. It was on a turn I knew would get me eventually. Its what a call a triangle intersection. Over the summer someone took out the stop sign so you dont see the turn until you're on top of it. I took the turn and started to hydroplane. I came to a stop with my passenger side wheels up on the embankment, and I felt it slowly go to the side. It was slow-mo so i just held onto the steering wheel and plop, on the side i was. I broke the mirror and that was it. I had my rain gear on so I stayed dry until help arrived.
