I took the CF500 into the woods and set up a portable ham radio on a hill top.  I used an arborist's throw bag and line to pull a wire antenna up to a tree branch over the old logging header on the trail and made several contacts, including one to the Galapagos Islands! (Call sign HD8G)

Normally, I wouldn't want to be lingering in one place in the woods this time of year in the Adirondacks; it's black fly season.  But today was windy and that helped keep the little biters away.

Thanks.

I've never been to New Mexico, but it sure seems like it has some beautiful scenery.  Here in the Adirondack foothills, we have plenty of lakes, rivers and streams and four beautiful seasons.

Yes... but it spends a good part of the year frozen!   :o

Nice photos, especially the icy branch. NMKawierider is right, we don't have much water here. I enjoy taking photos of the running water during the runoff season, but this year we probably won't even have that. I'm looking forward to seeing more photos of your rides.
