We had heavy rains last night, and it was still raining early this AM when I left the house. Met for breakfast at 8:00, and it was pretty much done at that point. Dunno about you, but I LOVE a ride after a rain, as there is no DUST !!! Those July/August rides can be a choking swirl of dust, and I hate them with a passion. We rode at AOAA, Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area, just north of Trevorton and Tower City. Its a VERY easy drive - not many hills, no heavy traffic once you get out of Harrisburg, and with 6,500 acres to offer, you can just ride and ride. At $25 for a day pass, its not cheap compared to SSRT for $25/year, but its also over an hour closer to me than SSRT.

We did hit a lot of mud holes, but I avoided most of them since I don't have the $$ to repair what I might break. Even so, I hit enough to clog the radiator and on the last hole I had a warning light on the dash trip for an 'EFI' error. Ruh Roh ! I limped it back to the trailhead, but after researching it online, it appeared to be just a fault with the clogged radiator that then tripped the EFI warning. Got it home, powerwashed it and ran a few gallons thru the radiator fins and no more code.

I did get a few miles in the seat of the Rzr, and it reminded me why I hate Polaris motors. Rev to 4k, then it pulls out. Stays at 4k, wailing like a banshee. I thought I had the damn thing in low !! If you ever rode a King Quad, its geared just right, and it putts along at 2k rpm and never sounds like its working until you really get into the throttle. I also wasn't keen on the ride height and jolts when you hit a bump. On a quad, you sit higher and can see ahead further, and use your legs for shock absorbers. But that is just the way they are, and if I can't deal with that, I shouldn't be looking at a SxS.

I also caught a rock with the left tire on a tight trail and just about went over the bars. This is on a 50" wide ATV, so I can only imagine how bad that would have been on the 60" z800. We have some tight trails here in PA, and while I want the comfort of the EX, I know in my heart that a z800 standard will look like a better choice at SOME point.

Agree any day is a good day to ride; one of the guys I ride with also just got a rzr 900 and it too sits low he says it's because it's just a base model (but that base model = $12,500)..

The Rzr 'trail' model does sit lower, as Derfer22 mentioned. I assume they have the Fox shocks set to a softer ride to smooth out the bumps. Like all OEMs, the stock tires are garbage, and we were surprised he didn't get hung up more than he did on the ride. His was 13,5k base, and after all the add-ons like windshield, storage box, full doors, etc, it came out to 16,3k.
That's well out of my price range, so after he bought it a month ago, I went back to looking seriously at the CF Moto, to see how things had progressed since I last looked at them a few years back. What I found was that every model year, they've continued to improve and refine, rather than rest on what they initially offered. My only issue right now is needing not only a larger trailer, but also a better tow vehicle before I buy.

As it stands RIGHT NOW (with everything paid off), I'm good to go. No debt, no payments, just rides !! Next year at this time, I'd likely be making payments on 30+k of debt (truck=17k, z800EX=13k, trailer=1k). That's a very bitter debt pill to swallow, but .. you gotta pay to play.
