Dstreaker, is that the old Butterfield stage route that headed for Prescott? We were there many years ago around 1984-85 starting at about Black Canyon City, then headed past Cleator and other ghost towns and ended up the day at Crown King. Had dinner and brews at the tavern, and camped up the road on a pull out. One of the most wonderful simple trips we ever had. We had a small Chevy Luv 4x4 with a new slide in pop up camper. It was cold outside but we were comfortable and had a 5" battery powered black and white tv to watch. Love that country.

I remember a copper mine along the way with towers and long gone cables with bucket carts that carried the ore down from the mine to the road area. I still have some ore someplace. Beautiful desert country.
RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!

MEASURE WITH A MICROMETER, DOUBLE CHECK WITH A TAPE MEASURE, CUT WITH AN AXE!

IF IT CAN'T BE FIXED WITH A HAMMER, IT'S AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM!

That trail is still open, it's called Old Senator Highway and goes from Black Canyon city all the way to Prescott.
There are lots of old mines still around but access is limited to most.
Lots of good riding around this area and a lot of beautiful country!
