Chehalis Lake, BC

Yesterdays ride.
Parallel and west of Harrison Lake. About eight years ago there was a mid winter rock slide into the lake (behind that ridge to the right) that was not witnessed by anyone, It resulted in what must have been an enormous wave both up and down the long narrow lake which wiped out all trees and vegetation up to about the 30 foot mark above water level. Public campsites were also destroyed. The havoc was discovered by early in the year visitors. What a thing to have witnessed from a nearby mountain side, if only someone had.
A logging road on the west (slide) side of the lake was also obliterated and has not been rebuilt. The photo was taken from a dead end logging road that climbs sharply above the north end of the lake.

For a nation to believe it can tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and believing he can raise himself by pulling on the handle - Winston Churchill

Man, I could only imagine what that would have been like to witness something at that scale!
