60 mile ride in Pa
« on: July 06, 2016, 09:34:53 AM »
Rode from the 8 Bees area in Hazleton Pa, to Centralia Pa.  Great ride, Z800 performed perfect, New shocks were very nice.

Here is a video from the ride.  We had to crawl up a gas line.  Pretty steep and rocky,  was able to do it in Low 4wd.

Nice ! Is that RAC land ?? I haven't purchased a RAC permit in 5+ years, but they offer a ton of land to ride on throughout the state. Only downside is FINDING those lands, and finding a safe spot to park your vehicle and gear. Centralia is on my bucket list for places to ride - I am really intrigued by the whole back story to that town. The abandoned turnpike tunnel is another one, but that one is patrolled regularly, and I just got a notice that I'll be receiving a fine from DCNR for a posted trail we apparently were on at SSRT (we saw no signs, but try telling the DCNR that the signs were knocked over).

Not RAC land.  8 Bees is its own riding area,  $25/per person for the day.  Tons of trails.  We rode off their land most of the day.  I pay the RAC fee since I can ride from my house to the land.  Makes it kind of convenient.

Interesting. I've never heard of it, and I honestly thought I had checked on every trail in PA !! Even internet searches show it was last open to day riding in 2010, and the only mention I see of it now is as a campground. Location to 8 bees is adjacent to Paragon Adventure Park between the park and Rt. 81

I didn't know 8 B's was doing a daily rate. Family was members there for years when I was growing up. Did a lot of fishing, hunting and blueberry picking there. When they raised their rates about 15-18 yrs ago, our family never renewed. If memory serves me correct, there is a fish hatchery on the property there somewhere. I will have to check into the daily thing, haven't been there in 15 or so years and would love to go riding around up there again.
