with that tensioner you take off the screw cap and insert a screwdriver and turn it counter clockwise to set the tension. I think the cap is there for 1. to keep anything from getting inside the tensioner, 2. to alow access to the inner screw to set tension and 3. to keep oil from coming out.

Hey,

 Please to say that she lives again. Took top end off and and timing was off. Adjusted timing and valves, she runs like new. Please God she stays that way for awhile. Also noticed another tube off.

Took the snyper for a short run and only got a few hundred yards and she died. Wouldn't start again, same issue. I think it jumped it's timing again. If so what do think that would be?

If it was the valve timing chain CFM had two major problems-One, they had a batch of cam sprockets that didn't match with the chain and as such would slide-over the sprocket teeth. Look for the chain not setting all the way down onto the sprocket. If this is the case replace the sprocket and chain with the revised part numbers. Two-there were a number of issues with the tensioners and bars wearing and breaking. If the chain has any play in it now...either side, this is a possibility. It could also be that if you have the manual tensioner it wasn't set correctly.

Confirm that it has slipped first and if you can tale a look ate the sprocket on the crank..make sure it looks OK.
