Throttle issues governor? Unforce 800
« on: September 18, 2021, 10:07:27 PM »
I have a 2017 uforce 800 while in park neutral and reverse the unit runs operates smooth rpms will climb to around 5000 with no issues what so ever. In high gear when accelerating the rpm will only go around 3200 and mph sits around 25. The side by side will barely make it up a hill in high gear. My seat belt was on and the diff lock was off. The issue started a couple days ago while in wide open throttle it would sputter and go down to 3200 rpm and sit around 25 mph. Now it does it constantly in high gear. I cleaned out the air filter, replaced with new fuel, and checked all sensor connections still having issues.

Thank you for the help

First - no need to post  in three different threads.

How many miles on the machine?

I would be to perform a compression test and check the valve lash to ensure the mechanicals are solid.

Will it rev up above 3200 RPM  in low gear?

There’s 500 miles on the uforce. I’m thinking it’s either the fuel pump not pumping enough fuel under strain. Or an electrical issue. It’s exactly like it hits a governor and 3200 rpm but only does it in high gear.

I couldn’t find the video on your YouTube. Do you have the wiring diagram so I can trace the reverse rev limit wire

It's here in the How To section...and no, sorry I don't have that wiring diagram. And remember...I'm not saying this is the problem..just sounds like the same problem another member had. Let me ask a question..when you put it in reverse, does the reverse light in the dash come on? And if so, does it also come on when in H or L...or any other position? Also..one more, is the 4wd indicator on..ie all four wheels and if so, is the "X" between them on? If so, I assume you have tries to put it in 2wd. Could it be stick in 4wd with the diff locked? Have you tried holding down the override switch while this is happening? If so and this works, its not the reverse limiter...its the diff-loc limiter.

Guessing get's expensive quick.

Will it rev up above 3200 RPM  in low gear?

Has the valve lash ever been checked?

Also, check this site for manuals you might need:

Yes when put into reverse the reverse light indicator comes on. When putting into H L N and park the indicator lights comes on. The 4wd light is off so is the diff lock I put the unit in 4wd and locked the diff rode around and put everything back to normal still same issues. I tried holding the diff lock override down still holding out at 3200 rpms in high gear. In R P and N the rpms go well over 3200

Interesting. May not be the RPM limiters however let's test something. Go to the position indicator switch on the case and unplug anything going to it. This will kill the indicator lights but will also kill the ground it provides. If this is switch or pod related RPM limiter issue, that should stop it. It doesn't mean the switch is bad...just means the ECU is being provided a ground on a limit trigger.

Looking at the Z's wiring diagram, the diff-loc RPM trigger is ECU J1, T16 which is Lg/Br (Light Green/Brown). It does pass through two connectors on it's way that could have gotten wet or corroded.

Where’s the position indicator switch?

Where’s the position indicator switch?
Forward side of the case..I forget which side it's on on the 800s. This is where the 500 has it's. NOT the circled piece but above it with the pigtail bolted to the case:

I clipped both the reverse rev and the diff lock rev in front of the ecu still only runs up to 3200 rpms 25 mph in high. The position indicator switch seems like a paint to get to I’m going to have to take both seats of and remove all interior plastics to get to it
