Oil pressure switch replacement question
« on: June 11, 2020, 11:29:10 AM »
It appears the oil pressure sending unit is a normally open switch. I have ordered an electric Alba pressure gauge kit to replace the factory set up. To find all the metric tubing and such is going to be a pain. Since the factory switch only compleats the circuit to ground, is there any reason I can't just ground the wire directly and relay solely in the gauge?

As I understand it, all the switch/sending unit does is provide a ground to the LED on the pod when below 10psi...so in that case grounding it will leave the light on all the time. Just leave it off to keep the light off. When I do mine...someday..I will use a nipple and T or Y off the port and run both.

With that being said, someone needs to pull the OE unit and get the correct size and thread count...and post it!  hint hint...lol.

The thread is definitely a M10-1. I may replace the pressure switch and wire it up to a horn or loud buzzer so if there is an issue it will get my attention.

There's an idea...one of those back-up beepers off a forklift or something.
