Looking for Light Bar Mounting Desig
« on: May 10, 2016, 05:33:32 PM »
I bought a 30 inch LED light bar on EBay.  I have a standard CFMoto top on my UForce800 and that makes the mounting scheme a little more challenging.
Does anyone have a mounting design they would share?

Where do you want to mount it? I don't have one. Maybe take a picture of where you were thinking, and you might get some ideas on how you would like to proceed. Might inspire one of us to make a batch of mounts. ;)

I'll be starting my custom led light bar mount build on my 800EX in the next week. All my parts & project materials came in...
The concept is very close to the razor's 30" mount. (discovered it on ebay) my first thought was to buy it and cut it apart, so that I could extend it out to the required length of the 800's roll cage near the top just below the plastic roof line. A side note: item didn't sell.
I decided against this, in fear the angles coming off the roll cage clamps would be different. Forcing me to make even more modifications to their mount. At $129 I felt my best friend and i can build it for far less money.
I want the top of the light bar to be flush with that line. When it's finally installed, it will look like the windshield was custom made for this, instead of how it looks currently.

When I do mine I am going to take out the widows-peak in the center and use 24" and cone down with the mounts from the bar keeping it tucked in between the two side peaks and slightly in front of the roof line..but just barely. I am actually going to get this set of two and put them on a 3-way rocker (On-Off-On) and have one on the back as well for. Will come in handy at the camp site of on the trail getting fire wood or resolving.."other" issues in the dark.

Kinda like Flash did with his but a little higher:

Flash's light bar placement seems the best to me. In the back of the rhino, I used a small fog lights. Worked awesome and was pretty cheap to do.

That's how I want mine to sit. You used the roll bar gussets. I can't do that unless I mount the Light bar to something longer than the light bars 30 Inches. Then I could use the gussets. I think the center of the top is higher than the  part of the top near the gussets. I may be able to use the Top mounting studs to hold a bar/tube/?.  Then mount the light bar on the bar/tube/?. But, I still have to deal with the same issue with the profile  of the top. Any words of wisdom would be helpful and appreciated.
I like the way your installation looks.

I mounted my 32" to the top.  Height of it is level to the back of the roof. I ride on trails that go under fallen trees and low branches and do not get hung up.

You could use some 1/4" thick flat stock material and bolt one end thru the roof and roll cage gussets and then place the light bar on them and mark the side bracket mounting location on the flat stock and then drill and tap to mount them to it. Mine is rock solid and like the forward location for added clearance.

I mounted ours under the front of the roof, clamped it to the roll bar, where we ride we sometimes have low hanging limbs and bushes so I didn't want it on the roof.

My neighbor is master at figuring out mechanical systems. He designed a mount for me that kept the light bar below the roof line but out of the sight line. It uses two hand made saddle clamps with a mounting bracket attached to each one. The saddle clamps mount to the roll bar above the dash, and the mounting bracket sticks out just under the roof.I haven't painted the brackets yet.

He did it for a very reasonable price. I asked him if he would make a set for anyone who needs it and he said he would.
You can reach him at tony.johnson@specialtiescompany.com.  He goes by Tony.
