Have to go street legal, turn signals?
« on: April 23, 2017, 04:53:41 PM »
Hey,
Much to my shock, I have to have a street legal ride to use the thousands of miles of Forest Service roads in my area.
I've heard that in Canada the atv/utv come with the turn signals installed and working.
anyone know about this?  I know my Uforce 800 doesn't have the turn signal lights installed, nor the reverse lights or rear turn signals.  The local dealer wants $800 for the light kit, installed.  I don't have $800 for lights.
I've read to contact emerson about this, but, as I'm in WA state and a ferry ride away from Victoria or perhaps Vancouver, I'd like to pursue the possibility of getting a harness+ locally, then use the turn signal lever already installed.  I'm not getting a kit to install a switch in the dash!
Then tires, I've got a front windshield, I don't' know if I need a rear window, I don't want to block the mounting potential, or does the glass/lexan go inside?  Anyway,  . . .
Could anyone shine a little light on this, please?
OK, thanks!

What about buying some cheap bike blinkers from ebay and just wire them to a switch and flasher relay.

Thanks for the replies,
I would like to use the existing signal equipment on the steering column.
I don't want to drill and mount switches on the dash, unless it is absolutely necessary.
I'd like to add the rear bar and obtain the harness from Canada, or whatever it is that I lack.
I think I need to contact dealers in Canada, frankly, I don't know why I havent' done this already!
Thanks for your replies.

I saw some unused plugs near where the turn signals would be.  I think the machines are already wired for them.  See if you get power in those plugs with stalk movement.  You might have to stick a relay or fuse in the appropriate socket in the relay/fuse box.
