2015 CF Moto 800 Uforce brake issues
« on: October 10, 2017, 08:58:18 AM »
Good morning
question or 2 for you drivers.
I have a 2015 800 Uforce which just turned 749 kms or 465 miles.
purchased new in May of 2016 it was out on 2 short runs before i got really ill and almost didn't make it through to June of this yr.
its been on 2 runs this year in which i thought the brake pads were maybe getting worn down.

it wasnt the pads as much as the  master cylinder failure.
I noticed the fluid in the inside of the fire wall coming from the brake rod 2 weeks ago.
last fall i noticed the dust sticking to fluid but because there was no major amount of staining it was thought to be assembly lub sprayed on the spring for the brake pedal mechanism

the dealership has had for almost 2 weeks and just today when I called, they advised me that they were ordering a new Master Cylinder because "they are not comfortable rebuilding this one and sending it out"

does that tell anyone in the forum that there is something other than normal use which caused the issue?

also my unit always runs high on temp even in cooler weather.  apparently there is a thermo switch recall out there which when i mentioned it they knew of it.  does this apply to all the CF Moto's or just one specific size or style?

why would the dealership not send out the recall to owners like car manufacturers?

The thermoswitch wasn't an actual recall but it probably should have been. More then half the units out there regardless of model have had thermoswitch failures. So far I have been one of the lucky half...lol...but I am ready with a bypass switch already installed...just in case.

These master cylinders are the lowest grade units possible and there were more then a few that failed pretty quickly so...I wouldn't want one that failed that fast then rebuilt even on mine...I would want another...in fact when mine fails I will be adapting a larger one from another maker like Honda or Subaru into mine.  The dealer is doing you right IMO by tossing the bad one. Bore is probably scored and can't be honed enough to take it out.

Shops will often just replace cheaper parts. Not worth fixing them or the risk of you coming back. A shop has a burden rate. Say they charge $70/hr. Maybe $50 of that is what it costs them in expenses to run the shop. If you have to come back because of some failed attempt to fix an inexpensive part, they will simply loose money and maybe a customer if it happens too much. They are just playing it smart.

I'm new as of Jan. this year, I've seen brake issue's not yours. Replacing the MC is the best!

The heat issue is most likely the sensor failure. Three bars is normal on the display, near four when the fan turns on.

Hope your health is on the mend, much more important  :)

My U800 hat bad brakes.........air in the system. It's a common problem..... In a service protocol from CF Moto there where the following 3 steps to do:

Step 1: Bleed the brakes Front and Back as usual done.....If that helps........your done. If not:

Step 2: Pump the brake peddel 20 times in 10 seconds and hold the peddel. Bleed the brake at corner left-front. Do it again with right-front, again with left-back and again with right back...........If that helps, your done. If not:

Step 3: Separate the front brake lines from the back brake lines; block it with a screw..??.. Then step 2 again.... your only have pressure on the front or on the back. If you are done and it works.......super. If it's not working replace the hole break.....!!......

Step 1 and 2, I can imagine that will work. Step 3 is a big nonsense. By opening the lines there will be air in the system again......

After doing step 1 carefully the brake was fine.....

PS: Fill after 1 bleeding attempt new brake oil in !!!!!!!
