2022 Uforce 600 Differential noise
« on: December 29, 2023, 10:34:52 PM »
I have a 2022 U Force 600 we bought new in June of 2022.  It is just under 200 hours.  Serviced regularly.  Most of our driving is under 19 mph so we drive it in Low as per the owners manual.  Recently we started getting what I would call a loud gear whine on deceleration.  It sounds like it's coming from the rear differential.  Anyone have ideas on what it could be or how to proceed?

If you still have any warranty left better get it in. There have been some issues with the pinion retainer coming loose on some diffs. This could be what's happening to yours.

So maybe nothing broken?  It's out of warranty 7 month.  The 12 month expired last June 23.   I have the service manual and am fairly mechanically adept.  Guess it will pull it apart.   Thank for the reply.

I can't find that specific term in the service manual.  Is #9 in the attached pic what you are referring to?

Yeah. On many others that bolt has come loose..if fact I suspect its loose on mine right now. I need to check it..and soon. If it is loose pull it, blast the threads clean with carb spray, and use a good lock-tite and go at least 5 more ftlbs on the torque

The driveshaft does have some forward and backward movement... back toward the read end under load and toward the engine maybe 1/4inch when coasting.  It has a slight clicking noise in the input shaft area of the rear differential with a stethoscope when coasting but no noise under load. Thats the only place I can hear or see anything.   I will check and advise.  It appears I can replace the bearing without major surgery. I will check and advise.   Thank you.

I still haven't has time to work on it.  I am reviewing the service manual.  Do I really need to remove the rear gear case to tighten the pinon?  Seems like a lot of unnecessary work.

If you can get the shaft out of the way without dis-mounting it, I don't se why you would have to remove it. We aren't sure that's what the problem is anyway. I have to check mine...soon...and sure would like someone to do it first..lol...and give details :)

Along this post...Is there a place we can get real parts for the Uforce 600/CFmoto?  I mean guts and frame parts.  I know the dealer is a source but is that it?  Just asking.

I bought mine from Crown Powersports in Abilene, TX when my local dealer, Family Powersports in San Angelo wouldn't work with me.  I've bought parts from both of them with no issues. I've also ordered from Main Street Cycle in Tishomingo, MO and cf-moto parts in Minnesota. They aren't hard to get OEM parts for.

You have to remove the 3 differential mounting bolts and pull it back enough to get to the bolt in the yoke.  Mine was broken in half... prob from the factory.  There is no way I could have broken it.  Now I have to get the broken piece out of the drive gear.  If not, they don't sell just the drive gear.  The set is $395  for the drive gear and primary driven gear.

On the positive, it looks like the be a rings and seals are good.

Dang...so in your opinion, can that bolt being loose or broken cause the pinion to move back and forth on the ring gear. If so...I think I have the same thing as its always had lots of play and noise sense new.
