Okay, I understand how to put something in gear.  I can shove this gear shift as far as it can go, it's only going to go forward as far as it will go.  It grinds no matter what I did.  It grind no matter what the dealer did, even adjusting it as far as it would go.  What pisses me off is, I have 12 miles on this machine and total about 2 hours of operating time.  I am 55 years old and not a kid, grew up being a mechanic and work on Jet aircraft by trade now.  I understand how to simply put something in gear.  With such low time/miles having the machine in my possession for only a couple of weeks, I wouldn't expect a manufacturer to tell a dealer to rebuild the transmission instead of providing him a new one to install.  It comes down to customer relations from the manufacture and their reputation as a fly by night machine or wanting to be a cut above everyone else.  Lesson learned again.   

Sorry about your luck, I wouldn't say this is a common issue with these machines though I have been on here for years and haven't seen much for actual internal transmission issues. Shit happens though. As far as rebuilding almost all manufacturers will opt for a cost effective rebuild rather than a replacement and there's nothing wrong with that. I do GM warranty for multiple dealers sometimes if a customer is pissed off they will authorize a replacement for customer satisfaction but GM is a bit bigger than CF Moto

good news! That's cool.

Well just picked up the Uforce 500 with new engine.  Only issue is with dealer leaving small items off, like those plastic rivets, and they must have lost a seat hinge pin, install a bolt in one side instead.  Other than that, I will be testing and doing the break-in.  Manufacture covered under warranty. 

buy a big bag of those plastic push pins on amazon, you will end up needing them, a little tool to remove them helps too.

So I got the thing home and the parking brake doesn't work, and the shifting is a little off with lights on dash, you have to jiggle the gear shift now to get to all line up.  I took off the center console plastic and there was no nut on the threaded piece connecting it to the parking brake handle.  Also, various nuts were replaced, assuming they lost the original ones, with like threaded ones but didn't fit into the nut hole.  Also, the seats have quick release pins, now one of the seats has a bolt in it.  I again assumed they lost the original one.  So, sloppy workmanship.  Starting to very much question the quality of this machine.  Buyers remorse.    Machine now has 17 miles on it.

your level of concern about the machines quality has went up because of the dealers poor workmanship? It sounds like your level of concern about the dealers workmanship is more in question at this point.

With the issue the OP had originally, I can understand how that may have been missed during the product orientation......should the problem have actually been there @ that time.

Now with all the comments in this post related to the problem, I fail to understand why the OP would not thoroughly check the shift issue unit when picking it up after a major repair.

Well that is irritating but all of what you said here is an issue with a tech at the dealership not the machine itself. I had also found the tech stripped out one of my bolts on the clutch cover after looking at the belt, that's also is not a problem with the machine but I don't really trust the dealership I took it too. Bunch of kids who don't give a shit about peoples stuff.
