Vibration
« on: September 30, 2023, 08:21:37 PM »
I bought a used 22 uforce 1000 with 1200 miles .... it has a bad vibration when first taking off ... sounds like engine has no motor mounts and mounted metal to metal .. seems to smooth out after it gets going ...
Is the belt bad or possible clutch issue or nature of the beast?

Pull the clutches an give them a good cleaning an inspection
Likely a new belt it in order

Was anything done Reclocking clutch weights etc that you know of?

I put a RNG primary kit in it but was doing it before that ... No work to secondary that I know of ... Never being around the CF Moto before I assumed it was nature of the beast .. but ... after thinking about it, I see no reason for it to be any worse than any other system.
I did blow out clutches the best I could while apart ... I believe it is getting worse ... so its probably belt vibration? I'll pull the cover and look .. Pretty sure it doesn't do it on the stands .. just under load.

If you didn’t change the belt when you did the kit that may be the issue

Make sure it’s all torqued properly
As well

You should take a scotch brite to the faces an give them a buff if there’s any glazing it can make the belt skip on take off

If your more aggressive when you take off does it do the same thing
Or only when trying to take off smoothly

I'm going to play with it today ... I didn't scotch brite the faces but will today and clean with alcohol .... it just does it taking off easy .. no problem when you floor it ... I bought the clutch kit hoping to make a better yard/farm machine and grandboys will want to drive it i'm sure (12-14) ... I surely appreciate the help :)

No worries keep us posted

You may need to reclock an change up the kit

There’s also a tune from msc that will help as well but a lil pricey lol

I have a 21 an it’s taken a lot of playing an foot control to get it smoother

While you down there inspect the motor mounts and the rear gearcase mounts tor movement and loose bolts. See if the engine looks to be not centered in the rubber mounts too as some have had the rubbers knocked out. Both would give you that metal-to-metal feel and sound. A bad u-joint on the front driveline would also give you vibration as it turns all the time.

I will check those items also .... ill try and post a couple pics of the belt ... both sides may have a glazed spot .. I eally don't know what to look for on the belt ... hope it shows up in pic ... I need a spare anyway ... it was doing it when I bought it but I thought a little vibration might be normal 😢 ... it runs smoth down the road after it gets past take off ... but ... it will hardly ever see the road at our house.

A little belt/cord irregularity but I don't think that would do it. Spin the clutches by hand and watch for any run-out or warp-age or any strange spots on the sheaves.

I'll check it out and put it back together tomorrow and leave the cover off for awhile  ... haven't done much but clean up the sheaves ... everything looks good tho. ... Thanks for the help ... I'll update tomorrow and video if I can figure out how to post it.

Scotch Brite the sheaves .. cleaned with brake cleaner ... wash the belt in dawn dish soap ... it has helped with the grabby take off .. machine still has to much vibration through the whole machine ... would like to ride another to see how it acts ... may just be the nature of the machine..
I'll try and attach video of running clutches.

Ok so even with the clutch kit I have in mine is got a vibration on slow take off an a skip if I’m not kinda on it I know it’s my belt as it’s old
There is a section in the manual that says to accelerate with purpose lol “along those lines”

The metal clanking you hear is Likley the u joints mine will do it at times if I’m in 4x4 it seem to not so as nmk said Likley ujoint sound

You can take the passenger seat out an tool box an grab the shaft
Give it a good twist likely the same sound maybe 🤔 ?
