UForce 1000 runs perfect but wont crank without a jump
« on: February 09, 2026, 06:04:46 PM »
I have a 2023 uforce 1000, purchased new, all stock. After a couple years it has started not cranking. It turns over fine. If I connect a battery charger to it for no time at all, like 20 secs., it fires right up, idles smooth and runs perfect. Once it is hot it cranks fine. I've replaced the battery and checked all the connections. No error lights on the dash. It's like it doesn't get fuel until the voltage is over 12v or something. Maybe ECU. When I try to crank it the volts on the dash read 11.4 or something like that. It will turnover all day but never fires until it has a couple more volts added. Then it cranks immediately. Maybe the values out of adjustment? Just wondered if anyone else had this problem.
There is a similar post that doesn't have much activity so I'll ask again. Thanks.

If the system voltage is dropping to 11.4 Volts while cranking, that's below the threshold for most systems and the coils to charge. 11.8 as I recall is the minimum for most. You either have a bad battery...which you can either do a load test on or take voltage readings directly from the battery while cranking, or there is something else that's causing resistance to system power supply...like what happened to many 2018-2021s which was bad internal crimps in the main system fuse holder. You could also have a failing AUX relay, corroding contacts in Key or kill switch (if it has a kill switch), or distribution fuse box connection. It could also be a bad chassis ground. Start testing. You will find it.

Factory battery is border line especially when cold.
I see some aftermarket kits out there where you put a larger battery under the passenger seat.

Hi Super 8,

Follow what NMKawierider is trying to help you with!!!

There is just no point in considering a larger battery!!! aAl you will do is to expatiate the problem you already have, you may even cause an electrical fire due to the high resistance you have that you have not located yet.

Find out what is causing your voltage drop first, then consider alternatives, better than a bigger battery is the consideration of a gel battery with greater Amp/hour output but not too much amp/hour.
