Uforce 1000 issues
« on: January 12, 2020, 01:14:56 PM »
I recently bought a 2019 UForce 1000. I had an aftermarket full hard door cab installed, cab heater, plow and recently installed an inline coolant heater. I live at 8700 feet above sea level in the mountains of Colorado. Right off the bat I have had several issues. It had 21 miles on it from the dealer. After 9 miles of use at my ranch the first drive belt started slipping. The dealer found it was 'glazed' and replaced it. They tried to blame me saying that I must be driving it in High while going under 10 mph. Within the next 20 miles of use, the clutch melted down! Apparently, the weights are too heavy for my altitude. CFMoto does not offer a high altitude solution. We had to contact the clutch manufacturer to get different weights and a new clutch. Also had to install a second new drive belt. Now, the machine occasionally won't go into low gear when shifting from reverse to low at a complete stop. I was told to "snap it into each gear as I shift"???? I love this machine, but I am getting rather irritated with the amount of time it spends in the shop! Is anyone having these issues? Do you have any advice?

The new clutch setup on the 1000s I'm sure offer a new set of high altitude challenges to overcome as did the old one with wet clutches. Getting the primary weights right along with the secondary clocking will be critical for you especially at 8700 feet. Me at 5400 and riding up to 12000 was tough enough. One thing I found with these on shifting is there can be no loading on the transmission..not even the slight load from the belt.. for it to shift easily. And as the gears and dogs wear-in and get a little shinier it will shift a little better...and I found a good synthetic gear oil also helps after breakin. For now if you are going to need to change gears try to slip it into neutral before a full stop. Then into what ever you need after. If you forget and the shifter doesn't move easily, don't ever force it..you will just bend the shifter fork in the transmission. Instead just tap the gas slightly and on the decel-side it should move freely.

One other thing- check the idle RPMs. You do not want it to go over what the book says otherwise the clutch will partly engaged and that makes it shift hard...and toasts belts fast too.

We are thinking about buying a Uforce1000.  We live at 10,000 ft in Colorado.  Have your problems been sorted out.  Any suggestions.

I know your post is old but do you have any pics of your engine inline coolant heater? Thank you
