Uforce 1000 EFI light on solid
« on: January 06, 2021, 09:27:25 AM »
I'm trying to help my brother-in-law, he has a new Uforce 1000.  The EFI light is on solid, no blinking so can't determine the error code. It has 20 miles on it, so very little use so far.  I see a thread from about 6  months ago with the same issue, but didn't see a resolution?  Anyone have suggestions on things to try?  We've unhooked the battery for extended period of time, no difference.  Wiggled all the connectors to try to find a loose one.  Nothing has helped so far.

Anyone have a uforce 1000 service manual?  Other ideas on how to resolve the issue.  Its a 3 hour trip to the dealer one way, then have to drop it off and pick it up later. Not what I really want to do if its something we can fix ourselves.

What kind of testers can we use to plug into the ecu?  Does a standard automotive one work? or is there something special about the cfmoto one?

Thanks for any and all responses!

I don't have a UF1000 manual but as the ZF1000 is almost identical electrically to it, the ZF1000 service manual should help you with reading out the code(s)....and I just happen to have one that I will PM you a link to download it.

I believe the ECU diagnostic plug uses the K-line, and most auto readers don't look at that.

There is a company that sells a reader and software to read the motos though. Xtooltech I believe.

Search for IOBD2-CF ....

If you are ambitious you might also try this:

https://netcult.ch/elmue/HUD%20ECU%20Hacker/

It's for Delphi ECUs (Cfmoto 800 engines) , but if I read it right ...

"The parameter scanning of HUD ECU Hacker can be adapted to other ECU's by simply editing the parameter XML file."

... it can be adjusted  to work  with Bosch too which is what I believe the 1000 uses.

I've read 3 difference places where the people have had the EFI light comes on solid at 20 hours.  Seems like to much of a coincidence?  Is cfmoto suggesting maintenance at that time and its their way of getting you to take it back to the dealers for service?

The original post said 20 miles, not 20 hours.

I didn't find anything in the owners manual about the light going on at 20 hours.

I thought the new ones..ie 2018+..were supposed to blink the error code not stay on solid. If I have time maybe I'll peruse through the ZForce 1000 manual and see if it mentions anything.

So I called the local Cfmoto dealer (less than 5 minutes) and asked if he could look at it since its still under warranty.  To paraphrase his answer, NO!  Since I didn't purchase the machine from him, he would "put it in the back corner and not look at it for a while".  "He services only machines he sells, and I'm not his customer."  WTF?!  This dealer didn't even have a 1000 to sell when shopping around, and I ended up finding one 3 hour drive away.  I also requested the first oil change and service, he stated $350 for non-customers.  I would never work with this dealer, and recommend others stay away!   (If I brought it in for service, wouldn't I then be a customer by definition?  But he of course only cares about people he sold machines too.)  This dealer is located in Pine City, NY.

I found another dealer 45 minutes away, he was happy to look at the issue, do any warranty work and do the first service for $140 which seems much more reasonable.  I have an appointment next Thursday.

Did you find a resolution to this? I haven’t messed with it because manual says nothing about solid light. Just checking in...

Only when running, but yes, solid only. Manual says it should blink a code. No blinking at all.

Was there ever any resolution to this issue? I have the exact same issue with mine. EFI light came on, solid, no flash, and stays on. This happened with 3.6 miles on it
