Suspension preload
« on: November 26, 2019, 10:12:30 AM »
What am I doing wrong when trying to adjust the preload on my U1000?  Manual says loosen lock and turn the adjustable collar with the spanner wrench (supplied) in the desired direction to add or remove preload. What lock Are they referring to on the UForce 1000 shocks?  I don’t see one at all.  Just seeing the adjustable collar, which by the way will not move in either direction on any of the four, so I must be missing something.

There should be the big one that the spring contacts and above it is a smaller one that locks or jams it. In this pic the top one in that lock. Hold the lower one and loosen the top one, then make your adjustment, then re-lock it. Remember..both sides MUST be exactly the same so mark it and count the turns..or part turns.

Thank you!  But the Uforce1000 has a single adjustment collar, at the bottom of the shock/coil assembly with 5 presets. I understand how the one in your photo works, as some of my kid’s ATVs have that style. Wondering if I simply need to take pressure off the suspension and then try. I’m finding the owners manual to be less than accurate thus far. For example, it refers to a sport mode which is “locked” on per the dash display yet there is no other mode to chose from. The manual says sport mode reduces traction control and provides a more spirited throttle response.  Maybe that is why the throttle is so incredibly touchy on this model.

Oh..then it had the old cam style preload adjustment. Yeah, jack it up and then turn it.

Solved.  It was the weight of the machine. No lock collar on U1000. Appreciate the help though.
