The wrap will do a far better job then the shield.. however on some applications, because it forces the pipe to get much hotter as it can't radiate the heat, some pipe won't last as long. Also when washing it the wrap will retain the water and cause faster rusting. But I think CFM is using stainless steel piping so that won't matter. If it were me, especially if I had a heat issue in the cab, I would let the dealer fix/replace it under warranty, then when I got home remove it, wrap the pipe, then reinstall the new shield over the wrap. Wrap it as far as you can.
