Air Filter
« on: July 15, 2021, 01:43:36 PM »
Got the new recommended unifilter (NU-8709ST) air filter recently, seems way too small. This in on my 2021 Uforce 1000.
Whats odd is, unifilter makes a full size option for this model as a cfmoto option is Australia but not in the states.

It is listed as the correct one for the 1000s. It may be shorter but its also not a toss-away like the paper one is and it will filter better enough that your engine won't be affected or destroyed by particle ingestion. Just use a quality foam filter oil treatment on it and clean as needed. Most of us trust and use Maxima FAB1 and it's cleaner.

I returned the too short NU-8709ST and they sent me a revised NU+8710ST but this one is a bit too long and egg shapes the airbox, in turn the lid doesn't fit properly.

During my experimental stage, I tried several different sizes larger then the one we recommend for the Zs. One was a 5x8 which did hit the end and warped a bit but although it did touch the lid and the case when closed, it did work fine. I'm not using it right now as I dropped-back to a 5x6. Here what the 5x8 looked like in the box:

and here's what the 5x6 looks like:

In your case the 5X6 looks good.
I'm struggling loading pic's, slow process.

Oh no...that does not work at all. Send these pics to Unifilter.

I sent them the original filter specs with pic's by email, no response. By phone he said they will make me an 11" filter, which they did but if they would have used my specs, 11" is the total length and they made me a 11" filter plus the neck, which is too long.

So how did this play out?  I'm ordering the NU-8503ST pictured in your first photo.  Hoping air restriction won't be an issue.

Not well, still have a filter installed that is too big for the factory housing.

Did you consider running the smaller filter and check performance?  How did you end up closing the filter enclosure with that bulging/non-closure issue?

Thx

Super 8 ,did you ever figure out the proper fix to this ?or did uni advise a different part number ?  I’m about to order nu-8710st that is what uni recommended when I called them … paper filters are no good for me as it’s usually super dusty where we ride . Thanks in advance

I gave up on trying to get in contact with them thru email and photo's, they simply never respond.
I ended up cutting some material out of the assy that holds the filter and got the diameter better, but the filter itself is still too long.
You could try calling them and it may have been revised with the same part number.
