Z Force 1000
« on: December 08, 2017, 07:22:31 PM »
OK I talked my self into buying a CF Z Force!
I would like to get the 1000...
However my dealer only has the 800 and wont be getting the 1000 until sometime in February maybe . Is the 1000 that much better/faster then the 800? Are the 1000 motors proven like the 800? Will the first year models have a bunch of issues?
Or should I just get the 800 ?
I know at the end of the day it is going to be my derision, but I would like some of your opinions.

Thanks

Who knows...no one has one yet...and like all first year models...especially CFM.. it's sure to have issues. But the reality is it's just a Z-Force with a bigger top end...basically. It's only about 20HP more as I recall.

Oh so the engine is not a new design, Just same stroke as 800 with bigger bore?
Maybe I will just get the 800.

Thanks NMKawierider!

Well, they are saying with some slight case mods you can drop the 1000 top end on the 800 block so...and there is a change on clutching...the wet clutch was deleted I believe. If the beefed-up the rods and crank, it might be a better engine. Just isn't any time on them yet to know. I was thinking about when mine needed engine work just buying a new crate 1000 and slapping it in...or have my friends at nFlow rebuild it with the 1000 parts. If its going to cost me in the 3K range to rebuild it, might as well just order a complete new 1000 engine with the new clutch setup.

here are some differences off the top of my head (looking only at the engine)

1. different exhaust
2. separate gear box and engine oil cavities
3. bigger throttle body
4. Bosch EFI (current 800 is delphi)
5. water pump seal design
6. oil cooler is new design (Z8 was air, new one is liquid cooled)
7. cam chain tensioner
8. No wet clutch
9. primary and secondary clutches are both CV tech (800 only used CV tech secondary)
