Wanting to get a cl-x 700, few questions.
« on: July 20, 2025, 02:51:24 PM »
I'm specifically looking for a second hand 700cl-x heritage model with brown seat.

I currently own a 450nk, and while it's a very nice bike, occasionally the buddies want to do over 100mph, which the 450 doesn't like.

I want something bigger, but not too much bigger. I don't want to get in trouble with the law. There are areas around here, where we can do 100mph undetected (no supervision), and I wanted a bike that would do it.

If you can answer any of the following questions, I would be very thankful.

1- do you actually get 150 miles out of a tank; or is that the minimum, average, or maximum?

2- I will want to change the gears a bit. For that I need to know:
2a- what mph you get at idle rpm in 1st gear (5mph?)
And,
2b- what rpm you get at highway speeds (60-80 mph) in 6th?

3- what rpm does the bike prefer? (My 450 can run final gear between 3 to 12k rpm, but really prefers between 5-7.5k rpm).

4- what rpm is the redline and rev limiter?

5- can I install a freeflow intake, and 51mm exhaust easily, without requiring a tune?

6- any of you installed a lithium battery? If so, which one?

7- is the bike's seat and rider triangle comfortable for longer journeys (coming from a 6'+ tall touring bike guy)?

And 8- outside of exhaust, intake, sprockets, and battery, what are some more weight reduction mods you can do?

Lastly, 9- is there a solution to have a larger fuel tank? (Inline fuel tank, or other?)...
