Hey guys, I'm in the market for either a CFmoto Zforce 800 or also looking at Polaris Ranger 570.

The main thing keeping me away from the Cfmoto is the company seems to be very elusive on posting a towing capacity for their machines.

I'd like a machine to be able to tow my 16 foot side console aluminum smoker craft fishing boat with 40hp motor on it from the garage to the lake which weights between 1250 and 1500lbs.

Polaris Ranger 570 lists their towing capacity at 1500lbs, which CFmoto lists their capacity as "Towing capacity: To come"...?

I thought these machines have been around a while?

Why no towing capacity rating?

I've inquired with a dealer and they seem to have no explanation...?

Is there an *official* towing rating? if so, where can I find it?

They quit listing it on their sport models because some operators would exceed the listed warnings.. which were less then 300lbs causing belt and clutching issues. If you look back on some older ZForce specs...like 2015.. it will list it only as 275lbs but what they could actually tow safely in low was much more...like 1300lbs. Also they may list it with the UForce and that will be about the same...and as a more working machine you might consider it over the Z.

This is the tow load warning from my 2015 Z800 Trail although I can say it does easily tow other 12-1300 lb RzR or a trailer full of wood in that load range in low on level ground. Remember, the Z only weighs about 1200lbs so...half that would be best.

My 2017 Z800 lists towing limits as:

Tongue weight  110 lbs
Tow weight       550 lbs

It's listed in the manual for 2017/2018.

I don't see any problwm with towing a 1500lbs trailer. My dads cf moto c force 800 (should be simular clutched and gearerd) pulld a 1500kg (abot 3300lbs) trakot witch chained rear wheels and the 800 pulled it without any problem. Use Low gerar and you should be able to tow that trailer without any problems.

I do think the towing weigts are more after regulations and laws,than what the machine actually can do. If you try tu pull it in a extream condition you may not be able to tow so heavy trailers and that's why the specifikations say so low weight.

If you will use tha machine for work and not so much play the u force are more sutible machine 

I see two factors in the low tow weights:

First, the limited braking power would be a big factor. You have to be able to stop all that weight in a safe distance.

Second, there are four bolts that hold the receiver on, and the receiver itself it not exactly of stout construction when compared to those found on a car. You don't want to lose the trailer while towing.

Can you tow heavier loads? Sure, but just be careful. Keep tongue weights low, and don't pull heavy loads behind you on steep hills (unless you install electric brake controls).

My 2017 Z800 lists towing limits as:

Tongue weight  110 lbs

I dont have any issues towing  heavey loads with my 2015 Cforce 800

I can tell you one thing, I have a cforce 800 XC and I towed my buddies zforce 800 up a few hills and through the woods about 2 KM to his place when it died using only the winch. It towed nicely.

I really wanted a machine to get my 16' side console aluminum fishing boat with 60hp outboard to and from the cottage to the boat launch. The distance isn't too far but there are a couple hills of about 30 degrees, but from the sounds of things a Z800 shouldn't have any problems. This wouldn't be something I wouldn't  do all the time, but was worried about a lack of tow rating on CFmoto's website. 

I was looking at a Polaris Ranger 570 which is rated to tow 1500, but either a U800 or Z800 I think I would prefer. I'm going to a dealer tomorrow and hopefully there will be a tech there I can chat with to see if there are any major drive train differences between the U and Z. I've found on a US CFmoto website the U is listed as 1250# which should be fine. I'm guessing (hoping) the difference in tow rating is only because the Z800 is lighter, and there aren't any mechanical differences.

On another note, has anyone ever towed anything and had issues with the transmission/differential and being denied warranty?

I would be concerned about your 30* slopes & traction more so on the braking side. If you are trying to launch & you have poor traction the weight of your boat may over power any make of unit.

Explore the brands carefully especially dealer support if you are not mechanically inclined & don't wish to work on your own unit. When comparing you can go with a smaller engine in the other brands than the CFMOTO, that will bring the pricing closer. Be very cautious with the warranty, how it is marketed & what it really is.......very different.

Low range certainly, and be sure to be going fast enough for the centrifugal clutch to be locked up. You don't want to be rubbing clutch shoes pulling heavy for any longer than absolutely necessary to get going.
Same if it were a belt slammer CVT.

I see that..but is that safe? Towing more weight then the tow vehicle is.. without trailer brakes doesn't seem the best idea. Just be safe people....use your heads.

Oh I agree 100% about towing safely. I was more concerned about having an issue with the drive train and being denied warranty if I were to tow my 1200# boat more so than anything.
