So I went to a local dealer, who is a power sports store. We made a deal on what I thought was a 2022 CForce 500. The actual machine was still in a crate in their other store. When the paperwork came through it said it was a 2021. The first thing I asked was why they charged me 2022 MSRP on 2021. Their answer was we pay the same for a 2021 as a 2022. Being unfamiliar with the CF Moto brand I asked them what was the difference between a 2021 and a 2022. My salesman was fairly new and said he would ask someone. He came back and told me they are virtually the same. I said OK on the 2021. When I got home I watched a few youtube videos on the 2022 and found out it was an all new redesign. That pissed me off. Called them the next morning and asked why I was lied to. The salesman said evidentially the guy he asked didn't know what he was talking about. I told him I wanted a 2022. He said no problem but could not guarantee when I would get it. He said 6 or 7 months. Is there really that long of a backlog? This isn't a mom and pop shop. This is one of the largest dealers in my area.

Yeah..people are saying the 2022s won't be in the dealerships in the US until maybe July...or later. That's just what the here-say has been. The way things are going with China I wouldn't be surprised if it was longer.

I really liked what I seen on the 2022's. Was it a mistake to pass on a 2021?

IMO it's never a mistake to stand-firm on what you want and not settle for anything else...or less, even it it takes a while. Personally, I would have just gone with another brand..even if it costs a little more...but that's just me.

Buying another brand with the same features would have cost me a lot more. Granted that is an option but one I could not justify.

Another fellow has had his machine in dealer for 8 months, waiting for a new engine that shipping company has.  Shipping company says dealer never asks for it so it sits.  Meanwhile fellow's warranty runs out in 1 month.  Good grief!

Is there a kind of "run" on crappy dealers?  I get the distinct feeling a local dealer here doesn't know or care about details like fixing something on warranty.  Any time I go there and ask a question and can get different answers from their staff.  It makes me shudder if I really need something to be fixed.

There are some very expert and fantastic dealers out there, but VERY few and far between.  MSC comes to mind in this category.

Comments?

YMMV

I think in my case it's a bad salesman. I won't know for sure until I get the unit and need to have something done to it. For the most part the dealer gets pretty good ratings from others.
