2015 ZForce 800EX
176 miles
Headlights fogging (first set and the newly replaced ones)
Overheating (possible thermoswitch)
Rear shock noise (slightly bent spring)
VSS (Vehicle speed sensor)

ALL covered under warranty. That in itself still makes me happy with my purchase.

2015 ZForce 800 EPS
574 miles
No real problems other then "self-inflected"..lol. I have however taken steps and mods to avoid issues down the road based on what others have reported.

Some of the small issues were:

Lower rear a-arms wouldn't take grease and several bolts not torqued to spec. Springs on the exhaust system were incorrect. Had a real problem getting the secondary clutch's retainer nut off. Both the factory and the replacement air filters were letting 5-micron(estimated) and smaller particles through. Shifter needed adjusting. That's about it.

Good stuff guys. I saw a thread similar on another forum and thought this would be a great way to showcase the real world info that potential owners can expect from this buggy.

Self inflicted issues are helpful to!  ;)

(2) 2016 800 Zforce EX's, one had an exhaust hangar bolt fall out at about 200 miles, both need to have the shifting levers adjusted, machines have around 350-400 miles on them now. GREAT Buys, IMO.

Thats some decent mileage right there!! This is what I wanna hear, guys that have thousands of miles. What were the small issues you ran into?

I used zx1 (friction reducer) in the engine oil which caused problems with the wet clutch, the right oil cured that.

2015 Z Force 800 Ex Approx. 750 miles owned 1 year as of 4/10  Warranty gone

First time out, coolant dripping on frame..replaced seal (warranty) no issues since

Turn signal relay went out.  Full of water and mud. Poor placement on installation by dealer. $5.50 part

Excessive noise from clutch housing...dealer said the belt was defective after about 200 miles...thought I would get stuck with buying new belt...CFMOTO bought me a new one. :)

Was out yesterday and brakes seem like they are fading...may be time to start looking into that and replace fluid as others have suggested.  Although...compared to a buddy's rzr I have driven....brakes were never really that great when comparing the two...but  I've never rear ended anyone so their good enough.

Power wire for winch behind the dash came loose..luckily I was in my garage testing everything before a big ride and not on the trail...simple reconnect

That's all for me...relatively small all things considered......fingers and toes crossed!

Good stuff, I agree on the brakes not being that great from even from new. I really had to push the brakes hard to get the new 2016 Z800EX to stop, and that was on flat ground, under 20 MPH on a dealer test field. The pedal felt good and firm, just the pads didnt feel like they were grabbing well. I chocked it up to being a new machine, and figured they would seat in and gain power. If not, brake pad upgrades would be the ticket here. Maxima Super High Temp fluid is my go to choice in my high performance machines.

Thanks for posting up your issues, and fixes. Keep the info coming! This thread will be used for many as a preview prior to buying. All machines have problems, this helps ease concerns prior to purchase.

2014 Zforce 800ex
304 miles (bought used with 148)

So far, first ride I lost the lower control arm nut and had to do a quick trail fix (winched up the front, beat bolt back in with rock, secure with bungee cord).   After getting it back to camp it wouldn't start.  I found out that the fuel pump connector came loose, easy fix.

First time it went through water the dash went crazy, and now sometimes when it starts up it will do that before calming down and displaying what it's supposed to.

The last time out riding through muddy trails, the throttle got stuck wide open (in a turn!) and was sticking every other time I punched it.  I had to tap on the throttle to get it back down (lifting it up from behind didn't fix it which tells me it's in the cable towards the rear of the machine).  I went through some clean water a few times and after a long straight away it didn't stick again, nor has it stuck after a DEEP clean and short drive to the gas station down the road.  I still need to grease the cable somehow though.

I noticed that the coolant is just every so slightly dripping at the check bolt, not actively, but you can see where drops have landed.  I'm not worried about that as I've read on here that it's common and easy to fix.  I also plan to flush out the coolant and put engine ice in.

All of these are small issues that I expect any machine to have.  As long as I don't catch fire (lol), or blow up on the trail I'm fine with fixing anything that comes my way.  I still don't fully trust the machine yet and constantly worry about breaking down in the deep woods somewhere, but I guess that will come with time.

I use a cable lubing tool. they slip on and have a port to put the straw into and seal up around everything, forcing the lube down the cable. you do need to unhook one end to get it done.

2016 EX 800 EPS. Around 220 miles. Brakes suck on these things. Drilled three holes in floor indent by pedals for water drainage. Had to adjust the gas pedal limit bolt, was only getting 3/4 throttle. Riveted the two front roof corners to the roll bar in order to keep the brush from getting caught in there and eventually doing damage. Clutching could be a little better, but it's not too shabby by any means. While washing buggy noticed a six inch by one inch chunk of the driver side rim was GONE around the bead on the inside(not sure how it was even holding air). Called dealer, dealer checked it out and warrantied. All shock adjustments were out of whack when first picked up, I blame that on dealer setup. Can't for the life of me understand why they made the roll cage so stinking high!? And what in the world is that black tubing that appears to exit passenger side of buggy and goes up towards the exhaust? I'm tempted to plumb it higher so as to keep it out of the water, any help would be appreciated! Super amped with my purchase, a very impressive ride and power plant regardless of issues!

From reading through most everyones problem list it sounds like a majority of the issues are dealer prep problems.  Either the dealers are bad at doing the prep or something.  The throttle cable issues is on CFM but the reality of that is it is a VERY small fix that just needs addressed.

2015 Z800 EP, 200 miles, 28" tires. Exhaust gaskets replaced twice, 2 wheel studs overtightened and stripped (dealer prep) shocks getting replaced tomorrow w. updated design due to rubbing. Seat base molded wrong and rocks, all grease fittings needed to be replaced due to no access and no grease able to be put in. All in all happy with it, just needs a little love, dealer / CF Moto has been good to fix so far

2016 CFMOTO Z8 110 miles.  So far air filter top fell off, license plate light melted, shifter plastic pc broke, water pump leaks, and a loose wheel bearing.  My dealer told me the water pump leak will go away and the rest was covered under warranty.  I hope he is right.  For a machine that only has 110 easy miles is sure not holding up so far!

2016  800ex eps. 700 miles of desert, trails and rock crawling. Only issue has been scratches on the mud flaps that I have since taken off.
Mechanically it has been perfect.
I go use a half windshield on colder runs as it help keep slot of the engine heat inside the cab.
I do wish engine heat was better vented.
Been very happy with my purchase.

2015 Z800EX EPS

Roughly 500 miles,  only major issue I have experienced was the shocks.  The fronts were rubbing the reservoir, and the rear ones pulled out of the bottom adjuster.  All were covered under warranty.

Still the same design, so I keep a spare front shock in the cargo area just in case.

Not a fan of the tires, they side walls seem a little weak.  My riding area is coal and shale.  The shale is like razors,  I have a few fillets out of the sidewalls.  I plugged the hell out of them, once they are worn more I will invest in a new set.  Something with a stronger sidewall.

Very happy with my purchase, and very happy with my dealer (buttorf's)  They even replaced the rear brake line that was severed when the last shock blew..

I took a buddy of mine riding last year, fresh out of the Marine Corps, and he rented a Honda Rancher 420 for the trails. We had a great day riding, covering territory and trails that I had never covered in 5+ years of riding that trail system. At some point, we checked the odometer and found it was at 7,791 miles !! The guy who rented them stated that they put bearings in them at around 2k miles, but otherwise they were bulletproof. I gotta say, it was a very harsh, noisy, vibrating hot mess of a ride, but ... damn .. it still ran !! Amazing to know that CF Moto machines can in fact put that amount of miles on to be compared to a Honda.

PS - we did swamp the Rancher in a mudhole, and we cleaned it up as best as we could before returning it. The rental guy seemed rather unconcerned, even after we admitted to putting that Rancher through a hard day. He went on to say that the worst it ever came back was when a group of Amish boys came in and rented all of his machines, and proceeded to thrash, trash and drown every single ATV. He said they must have just found a few choice mudholes and played in them all day long !

Has a slight weep from oil seal on front diff but not enough to bother doing anything about it. Other wise cannot kill it.  ;D

Our 2016 Zforce w/eps has had the shocks replaced and are taking it in this weekend because it looks like the headlights are bubbling/melting.  We are still under warranty so they should be covered.  We did call our selling dealer and we could hear him in the background saying what does he want me to do about it and was he running the lights during the day?  um, yea we were in the woods where I want the other people riding with me to be able to see me!

Not warranty:  we bent the tie rod which you cannot get by itself. you have to get the whole assembly for around $100.

So far happy with the machine, not necessarily the 2 dealers that we have been working with!

I wasn't sure I wanted too  ;)  Butteroff's is where we bought it and THAT was a great experience, however he was the one that wanted to know what we thought he should do about the headlights. He is 3 hours from us so he is not necessarily our first choice for warranty work because of the distance. So we opted for B & B sales and service in Manhiem (1 1/2 hours away)for the shocks. We scheduled an apt and when we got there they proceeded to tell us that their customers come first, repeatedly. That if any work comes in ours will not be first to be looked at. Then he actually asked us why we bought it somewhere else ( we did go there and tried to work out a deal, but they didn't want to give us what butteroff's did for our 4 wheelers and the CF moto was higher in price...we told them all the numbers and they didn't want to budge so we went with the better deal and told them that we would have our warranty work done with them because they were closer and they said that would NOT be a problem. So that's been our experiences so far!

Thanks. I asked because I will probably be buying from one of those two, with Karns also a possibility. I like Karns for the sales guys, and I like B&B for the size of the shop and mechanical know-how. I'd guess that I will buy from Karns and service it at B&B, as they are identical in price, but I've always found the co-owner of Karns to be a straight shooter and knowledgeable guy - I met him about 5 years ago at the York Fairgrounds. I think Buttorfs will give me a better price, but its the farthest of the 3 by a good bit.

I just checked.....for us it's about 4 1/2 hours away.  B&B took was great to work with on Saturday. They allowed us to remove the headlights and bring them in without having to trailer the whole machine.  They will be sending pics to CF moto and then we will go from there but he said they should have no problem covering them.

I am going to try this again.  First off  my unit caught on fire the first day before I unloaded off the trailer.  The dealer that sold it to me installed the battery backwards and it arked on frame and burnt the top of the battery off and some wiring. They sent me another battery and I repaired myself. In about a week I noticed the right rear tire seemed to have a wheel bearing down, after further inspection the nut was so loose you could actually spin the washer behind it. I tighten the nut and all seemed okay.  However riding it with a loose wheel for a week caused the seal in the differential to fail as well as wore out the wheel bearing.  Every things seem to be going well for about four months.  I was heading home one night running about 60 mph when knock came in engine. Shut unit down and towed home.  Shut unit down and towed home.   The dealer where I bought the machine said they could not look at it for weeks. So I found a dealer in Tennessee that said they could look at it for me. Loaded it up and hauled it 3 hours to dealer. Three months later I finally get my unit back. Since I did not buy my unit there I did appreciate there help but I had to work on unit several days tightening a lot of stuff  had bad oil leak and muffler fell off after first ride when I got it back. I fixed all that myself. Couple months later unit started blowing fuse and odometer went crazy and finally just quit. At this point I had found a dealer in Pikeville about 2 hours from me so I took it there.

Wow, usa needs to prep their dealers better.
The units should go through a PDI before customers .
Sorry to hear of your problems
CFmotoGuy, Maybe you need to do a dealer meeting and bring everyone up to speed

This dealer has been awesome and really went out of their way to help me. They found that the wiring to the speed sensor had not been secured properly from previous repair and had rubbed completely into.  They fixed it very quickly and I went back a couple days later and picked up. Couple weeks later a rattle developed under valve cover toward cab. Figured had about 800 miles since overhaul so would have valves adjusted. When cover was removed the chains, guides, and tensioners were wore out and the chains were causing noise. Returned to dealer and they repaired under warranty. Unit was 11 months old and had about 2800 miles. A few weeks later I got unit back and noticed the clutch did not sound right and second ride quit holding back. Return to dealer. They replaced wet clutch, one way bearing, and they said rebuilt primary clutch and secondary. Once again everything was under warranty.

Post dealers name location, let's support the great service locations, After sales in what is needed.
My comment about some dealers is there is a checklist that needs to be completed before the unit go's out.
To catch the little stuff that can ruin a good day out on  the trails.

Wow Scottzforce800, I am super-surprised you are still a CFM owner at all. I would have thrown-in the towel long ago. I was even thinking of it today when I discovered my infamous suspension squeak was back in the rear. Other bushing, bushing I had not worked on before had started rotating in the tubes. I pulled it all down and went to my bushing suppliers to get some better ones but nobody had anything any even close to these so I ended up modifying the OEs, gluing them in place and installing wear plates on the ends. Also noticed the surfacing is coming apart on the sleeves...cheap low grade steel. Just got 700 miles on it. This stuff should be an issue for at least 2500...IMO  OK, rant over :)

To be honest NMK I am kinda stuck. I owe four more years and would lose my butt if I tried to trade or sell. The engine is what worries me though, including clutches as well. I don't think these engines will hold up.  Rest of machine had been great. Sad CF Moto suppose to be building engines for years and only side by side a short time. Did good on side by side but their engines won't last. Good power but no longevity. Sure hope I can get at least another year out of mine that way I will only be paying for three years for something I can't use, lol.

2016 800 EX with 300 miles.  Only issue so far was the right front lower a-arm bolt loosened up at around 250.  Took the nut off cleaned it up, a little blue loctite and shes good to go.  Heading back to northern NH in a few months for another 300 or so.  I'll update again.  To add a little to the constant talk of poor PDI leading to a lot of these issues.   Being that the vast majority of shops that carry CF Moto are multi line dealers.   They "should" be use to prepping an ATV.  I can say that some of what I have ready for issues, are thing that you don't need to check on the japanese machines.  That being said they should be able to identify these issues and adjust there PDI checks accordingly.  Just my $.02.

Hey guys,
Just bought a 2016 Zforce 800 eps. Took it out for the first ride this weekend, GREAT, impressed. .....until. ....it died in the bottom of a canyon and we had to tow it out. Turns out the ignition switch is bad, less than 40 miles on it.
Dealer days 7-10 days for a new one, so I have a new machine I took out once and can't ride for like another 2 weeks....hope this is my only trouble. Definitely doesn't instill confidence in the new to the US machine I was nervous to buy in the first place :(

Bought a 15 left over.  At 10 miles lost the right rear shock. Assuming it was not built correctly and lost all oil out of it.  Cf Moto replaced the shock quickly with a "new" design with single spring.  Still arguing with dealer 6 weeks later that they are not the same shocks and I want them to match.  Machine handles funky with one single and one double spring set up.  Other than that I love the machine.  I have had to tighten more bolts than I care to think about and still can't get rid of a rattle in the steering column although all fasteners are tight. I guess time will tell how it holds up. Currently sitting at 160 miles but plan to ride a lot more in coming weeks.

I'd keep on the dealer !   I'd tell them that I need something in writing that says 2 different shocks are safe to ride and will not cause any handling problems. That way if something happens you have documented proof that is what they are saying. OR get you matching shocks.  I believe it's the dealer not wanting to go through the paperwork etc.  ONE of my rear springs was slightly bend and barely rubbing the shock, not the reservoir , the shock. My dealer replaced BOTH. So I believe Cfmoto would has done the same for you, I'm surely no one special.

Okay, I have some time so let me get in on the conversation here. I have an 800-EX EPS with about 350 miles on it now, and I'm happy with my purchase so far, with just a few disappointing items on my list. 1st. I still find the rear suspension squeeky, it seems to be from the lower A frame outer attachment bolts. I tried to lube them but they didn't seem to take any lube. The dealer said they lubed them and that they took grease but they still make some noise that concerns me. 2nd. The 1/4 clear plastic tube leak indicator located on the right side had some antifreeze in it. It wasn't much maybe 1/8 teaspoon that I cleaned out of it. I have put another 50 miles on it and noticed just a little of (hopefully) residual fluid that I will clean out again and keep an eye on it. 3rd. This should be of concern to all owners, the coolant tank is chafing against a sharp point of a bracket that's located located behind and outboard of the tank. Mine will no doubt start to leak very soon, if something isn't done about padding it. Has anyone else noticed this problem?

I have not noticed it but I will take a second look right away. Thanks for the heads-up. And on the squeaking suspension...I feel your pain. I did get mine fixed but it meant stopping the bushings from rotating on the a-arm with good adheasive and re-polishing the sleeves from the corrosion they had. I have some info in the How Tos.

I have a left over 2015 Z Force 800EX without EPS. Have 270 miles on it and just had the first service done. Had the dealer replace the rear shocks as one was rubbing on the reservoir. No other issues as of yet. Did replace the crappy factory mirrors though.

Im not really having a problem with mine yet but my one friend is and maybe you guys can help him out. He starts it up and idles fine but when he gives it gas it bogs down and sounds like shit. i know he put a new throttle body on cuz there was codes up for that and he found a loose wire to one of the coil packs and he fixed that. so at the moment he has spark to both cylinders and fuel pressure, no codes on the dash, but it still idles fine and bogs down when you give it throttle.

I have a 2015 Zforceex with 4200 miles on it with no problems until now.  My clutch is getting more noisy and is holding back less.  I will be taking it in to my dealer soon for them to look it over.  I also am starting to shop for replacement tires.

Got a new sprage clutch put in and even though my machine was out of warrentee about 3-4 months the parts were no cost!  How about that!

46mi on a 2016 cforce 500 HO. Engin randomly starts up at high idle 2700-3500 rpm and normally idles at 1700rpm, suppose to be 1400rpm. While doing my first service I found the rear diff 1/2" below the fill whole and no grease in any of the rear swing arm pivot points. (No, I do not use a pressure washer to clean it)

Passenger side mirror started to look scuffed from the inside. Called dealer, Cfmoto said cosmetic issues are only 90 day warranty, but they'll cover it anyway.
Great to see a company doing what it takes to keep customers happy.
( I hope when they do make it big in the American market that they keep this level of customer service.  If they do, they'll be the company that sets the bar )

Well I ran into my first problem with my 800 trail.  Riding this weekend the tranny started making a grinding noise.  Got just shy of 400 miles on it.  I'll call the dealer tomorrow.

Dealer found a bearing that went bad.  He is not sure why - part problem or install issue.

So now at 560 miles I had the tranny bearing problem, fixed under warranty, battery went dead one month after warranty expired (its a $160 battery) and now the thermo switch went out.  Dealer said the part is back ordered.

I'm beginning to wonder if I should have paid the extra $ and got a RZR.

About 65 miles on 500 HO atv. The starter quit working. Got it home and pulled it apart Monday. The relay was working fine but got nothing from the starter. Checked voltage and it was getting good power. Turns out the connection on the starter was corroded. I cleaned it and put dielectric grease on it. Now it starts up easer than it ever has from day one. Someone really needs to educate the manufacture on what dielectric grease is, and how to use it. I guess now I need to pour through the entire machine to clean and grease every connection.

2015 Z Force 800 (purchased in May as a leftover). 740 miles.
1. Rear suspension bushings squeaky - 150 miles. Glued in place and torqued through bolts, no longer squeak.
2. Rear drivers side wheel bearing loose - 150 miles. Re-torqued.
3. Shitty stock 2 ply tires get holes in sidewall. Replaced 4 tires (550 miles) while in WV at Hatfield McCoys...
4. Rear passenger side wheel bearing loose - 740 miles. Re-torqued.
5. Front and Rear A-Arm bushings starting to get "sloppy".
6. And now the big whammy that I'm not to thrilled about (need to call dealer tomorrow) both sides front A Arms (top) are cracked at welds where the lower shock mount is!. - 740 miles. See pic attached.
7. Lower shock mount loose on front drivers side. Hole slightly egged out.

You know...that thermo switch just sends power to a relay...and if that relay's coil is bad and is using more power then it should, it will overload those thermo switches and take them out pretty fast. With your history with switches, I think I might just change out the fan relay for G.P...and soon.

Damn, what can possibly be the issue with these things? I mean they don't use a lot of voltage, none of the parts are exposed to the elements.  I have my old one still and am planning on opening it up (somehow) I know how it works , I just want to see inside for myself.  Maybe it will shed some light on the problem.

2017 800 trail got 60 miles on it died once when backing off a log ( read on one post possibly crappy factory air filter on these machines) haven't changed it yet! And I have slack in one rear a arm not loose suspect bad bushing going to replace that myself instead of having to carry it to dealer and wait! And like everyone else clutch is noisy when taking off or backing up from dead stop it's loud clang when clutch engages other than that very happy! Lots of power and lots of fun!

At 150 miles did first oil change, looked like 2 year old sludge with all kinds of junk floating in it, not metal maybe some kind of break in oil ? Kind of looked like it had graphite in the oil. Very little metal collected on the mag oil plug. At 200 miles, did 1st. valve adjustment, they had actually tightened slightly, none loose. Only other issues have been the standard loose / missing nuts-bolts, tailgate latch missing both nuts and one entire bolt, fixed under warranty, door latch replaced under warranty, power steering stopped working after right turn, (not left, only right...?) and would not work again until machine was restarted, ECU replaced under warranty, ECU fuse holder melty, also replaced, probably due to overcurrent due to faulty ECU, rear a arm grease fitting snapped off (over torqued?). All relatively minor issues, but irritating none the less. I popped for the extended 5 year warranty for an extra $1200.00 I think it was.

I bought after market with square thermo switch that works.
Let me know if needed I bought 2.
Thought I had a issue with mine. Ended up being a fuse that blew. Make sure you check your fuse for a non working fan before you buy switch. Unless yours is older than a 2015 supposedly they updated these thermoswitchs which were a fix to the z8 2015 and newer.
Like I said. If you need it let me know I can send it over to ya. I think I have 20.00 with shipping

Update: after receiving the thermoswitch, I found it wasn't the issue. It was a simple fuse after pulling the entire front clip off to get to the relay for the fan.. so for all overheating issues check fuse first before you dive into it! I checked the fuses on the trail at first but checked the ECM fuse instead of the cooling fan fuse. I got things backwards... oops!

270 Miles on a 2016 800 ex. Pretty sure my rad fan died, tried jumping the two wire plug and turning the key on but the fan still didn't turn. Blade spins freely so I'm going to call dealer tomorrow.

update: blew the 15amp fuse. replaced with the spare in the holder, seems to be ok now.

Fuse problem happened to a lot of us. It only happened once to me. If muddy conditions persist I'd recommend relocating the fan and radiator.

100 mile mark - two oddball items:

Found a stripped zerk fitting on a rear control arm. It just spins in place but doesn't fall out.

The license plate lamp was apparently hot enough to melt the housing the lamp sits in and the plastic shield the housing  screws to. I'm replacing the lamp with an LED (runs cooler).

Both will be fixed under warranty.

Not a problem but, I figured I could post this up here.

I finally retired my factory rear tires at 1602 miles.  There is probably enough tread on them to last 2000 miles.  I'd say 40 percent tread left.  These tires served me well.  They performed in every condition I threw at them.  They gripped in rocks and boulders.  They even held up in the coal wasteland where I live.  It ranges from razor sharp gravel to silt that is way finer than anything you could find in a desert.  You can't imagine it until you've been to the coal region.  I was especially surprised at how well they worked in snow.  The snow was up over the hood and I was still moving.  Uphill.  I'm not a big mud rider.  No tire is gonna help you when your sitting on the frame.  I only recall getting pulled out once.  There are some plugs in the sidewalls and tread and a few cracks in the sidewall that I don't trust anymore.  The sidewall plugs were caused by narrow trails where I ride and me being new to a SXS.  I believe that increased SXS traffic is widening the trails ever so slightly.  All of the punctures were withing the first 500 miles of owning the machine.  If a quad fits so should a SXS.  Not true.  That rock or railroad tie is going to catch the sidewall.  I've removed a few rear fenders too!

I have 2 new Abuzz tires for the back.  I figure by the time they are worn out the fronts will need to be replaced too.  I would recommend these tires to anybody that needs a good all around tire.

Water pump and seals replaced for the third time in less than 6 months. This time everything was replaced so hopefully its good now. If not, I see a Yamaha or Polaris in my near future.

Ok folks, here it is. Had a problem with the zforce. Went out for a rain ride and started hearing squeaking coming from suspension. I found a rock and rode one front tire up on it to allow the other to "hang" and checked it for tightness. Holy A-Arm movement! Bushings were shot. Called the stealer (alpha sports) they want 21.60 for each bushing! I myswell trade it in for that kinda repair (lol) so I ordered RZR's conversion ( way less money and way better material you can find in the how to's part of this forum I believe it was NMK that posted it.
I will be changing these over:

While I was out voyaging around I stopped for a stretch break and lone and behold.. flat tire left front. I'm running interco sniper mud tires in a 27" and left front with no air (8ply) I had to limp out of a trail 3miles to be able to meet my wife and load the buggy up on the trailer. While driving slow out of the woods I had to back up on a hill. Snap went my my axle.

Man...talk about some bad luck...which axle? the one with the flat tire? Oh and by the way the RzR bushings are doing very well...in fact I found my right front uppers are now shot so..I just happen to have a set of ASRs for them..:)

Sweet! Crazy enough it was the one that had air in it. The tire that was flat didn't have any traction. The tire with air in it took the beating.( held all the load ) I was in 4x4.

What did you use for washers to build out the gap between the bushings and mounts? I noticed that the bushings I have aren't as thick as the OE.
The OE's are t cheap I was astonished when I received the price. I love right up the street from alpha sports. We should all try to get a serious discount from him as forum users.
Naturally he could benefit from it. Just a thought!

BTW... I ordered the super atv high clearance a-arm kit... it doesn't fit. lol i called them and they said it would. I had to at least try. Good news is in talking with Super atv.. I now have them working on making a set of high clearance a arms for the 53" model *thumbs up* I'll let you all know when there ready I'll post some pics and I'm sure a lot of you will want a set.

Cool...well I'll remember not to be in 4wd if I ever have to limp out of the woods with a front flat...lol

You know..I didn't realize the shoulders were narrower but I did notice they didn't set flat against the a-arm...that's why I filed-off the inside sweep so it would like the OEs did. I usually put wear-washers on all mine so I had to take even a little more off the shoulders but just a little at a time to get the right fit. Just a plain washer, polished-up a little, with the center drilled so the sleeve would slide through. It's in one of the videos. I may..order some copper or brass washers that fit cause it looks like the steel is still wearing on the bushing end as much as the mounts were...at least that right front is..the rest are not.

All I remember is the OD of the washer was about the same as the bushing end and the ID was close but had to be drilled-out for the sleeve to fit through. The thickness was...well as thin as I could get them.

Check the actual fit first with the bushings in the a-arms and the sleeve in and in between the mounts. You want the mounts to bare pressure on the sleeve, not the bushings...at all. Just don't want any play back and forth. You can always sand material off the bushing ends but...can't put it back on...lol And if they don't fit tight..have to glue them. PITA but worth it.

I think I had to drill the washers out to 5/8" and if so..I think I want to change them out to brass because that's a better material for this application. If that's the size of the ID, then these would be the ones but...I want a better deal then this cause I need a bunch.

2016 zforce 800 trail. 540miles. So far it has been nice. First issue the 4x4 button was no good but was replaced under warranty. One of the grease fittings broke but was replaced but had another one break since. Be careful when grease I had a hard time removing the fitting without breaking it. Besides that it was been a great machine except the trail model has bad suspension in the rear. My only real sport is that the motor seems to make a squeaking type rattle almost like there's a can knocking around in it.maybe it's just the way the motor sounds but my ace has a much quieter not rattling sound to it. Has anyone else had this issue?

Mine too. Thought I had a rod knock but must be the wet clutch or something. The other noise mine did that sounded serious was the heat shield rubbing on one of the exhaust springs..only did it when hot and sounded like the engine was coming apart. Found it and fixed with a BF screwdriver. :)

Yah, I've busted up a few grease fittings, they are very tight. You have to loosen the grease gun fitting so it's hand tight, then you can loosen it a little to remove the gun from the fitting.

2015 zforce 800ex. Not sure of the mileage, but it's been punished but we'll taken care of for two years. Brake pads wear out fast, really fast. I noticed cheap brake pins corrode faster than normal hanging up pads. Belt has been great. The unit kills out every now and then, but always starts back up. Very unusual, no check eng light. Water pump leaks. Shifter trim bezel wants to pop off all the time. Seat belts are trash, I'm going to have to upgrade. Other than these things, everything else has been my fault! Lol. It's one Bad Motha Moto...

CForce 500 HO
14 months old
260 miles
EPS motor, and thermal switch bad
At 11 months and about 200 miles the starter motor went bad
Also had TPS problems at about 2-3 months old
Had a few other problems along the way but very minor compared to this list.

After three months use and at least 600Km on each of the 11 Z550 EX EFI buggys we have the only issues are;

Exhaust springs, something CFMOTO really should be doing something about.

One caliper leaking and destroyed the dust seal. (seal kit same as Honda N400/N600 front 38MM in case anyone is interested)

We have fitted pre-filter up behind the headrests on plastic plumbing pipe, these are trapping all bar the very fine dust which at 500Km was negligible despite the very dusty condition here in the 'campo'.
 This kind of thing
(https://vgy.me/91TY6C.jpg)

We may fit Twin-air foam filters later as they have proven fantastic on the GS Moon 260's reducing ring wear from 7 to 10 weeks to 7 or 8 months.

A couple of seats have pulled the brass inserts out of the spacer bracket between seat and mounting frame. I am thinking of installing runners as we are having all sizes of clients of course and with the seat right back on the slots it is a bit of a stretch for smaller clients. Just need to find the right ones as the 'standard' universal 40mm ones are too long.

2015 Uforce 800
At ~ 780 kms master brake let loose (this time last year)
At ~ 780 kms the rear shocks were leaking so bad driving on snow packed roads bottomed out the machine in shallow dips
Thermo switch
At ~ 1200kms the water pump went out of it in addition to other seals

At 1560 kms the 4 shocks were replaced with Elka Stage 3's

At ~1800 kms the water pump is once again gone along with clips and other seals
2 X rear brake issues

both headlamps still fog up and dealership blamed me for exceeding the high water mark however i don't sit XALLS deep in water  - not since my field MP days
CFMOTO CANADA will not replace even with emails showing it happening since day one.

I cannot afford to have this much down time every year.

Ive been on 3 runs this season due to busted (Warrantied) equipment.

Yes...and many 2016 800s had mis-matched cam sprocket & chain sets causing them to jump. There's a thread here on that with pics. Also there were some that had cam chain tensioner problems.

Well i can add to this list

I drive a 2017 cf moto 500s/520

have right now almust 20000km and 700h on

the problems caused by the machine is the cam shain tensiner at about 2500km and some bad brake lines.
then some caused problems by the way i drive it like the ball joints and the tie rods ends. driving around in rocky areas and climb upp and down of those sharp edged rocks give the machine a beating.

2018 ZForce 500 trail, love the machine, here are some minor first problems.Missing bolt that holds exhaust to the side of the block, broken exhaust spring, dust from original air filter in intake system. To me these are minor, and acceptable as they are an easy fix, mostly due to Q/C.Air filter issue is standard, and i should have known to put a better one on first.I am happy thus far and hope to have many good years with this machine!Btw,wife loves it,and thats all that matters! :)

2018 ZForce 1000, bought new 2 months ago.  Currently has ~1250kms on it.  I followed break-in procedure pretty closely, it's first service was done by dealer at 500km, and I just changed the oil for a second time at 1235km.

Problems:

>Think I had a bad left rear shock, it thunked pretty hard on bumps.  Dealer replaced it with a new style shock from the 2019 1000's, and will be replacing the other rear to match also.

>Has an issue sometimes with grinding when shifting into gear, it's a known issue and dealer is currently ordering parts to repair it.

>Passenger 4pt harness would not buckle 90% of the time and eventually stopped working altogether.  Dealer swapped it out no problem, I just brought it in and they gave me a new one.

>A couple minor things like loose heat shields on both exhaust pipes due to crappy clamps, I replaced them with good hose clamps and it's fine now.  also blew a fuse for the fan once but replaced it and no issues since.

>Also, the rear sway bar mount bushings had a lot of play in them recently (may or may not have contributed to the thunking I was getting with the shock, I didn't notice it until I had the shock removed to replace), but I have removed the swaybar completely as a lot of people suggest.  Will be trying it out for it's first real trip without it tomorrow but

Might seem like a lot, but other than the gear issue it's been minor things I've fixed myself and there hasn't been a time yet that I've missed out on a trip due to issues.  I love this thing to death, it looks great, works amazing, and is a ton of fun!  I get a lot of people asking about it too, and it hangs with the big boys no problem.   Slowly making it my own with front and rear bumpers, front mudflaps (we got our asses/legs soaked every time we went out in it), plans for a custom built stereo box and second battery, and lightbar I need to get mounted.  I'm happy with the purchase, especially with how my dealer has treated me since buying it.

(nearly) 2 year update on my '17 800 Trail.
Other than my improvements to the engine air intake and installing better skid plates, shocks, and half doors, at over 5000 kilometers (3200 miles) the only breakdown I have suffered is a lost nut off a sway bar link!

2018 z1000 EPS LX with 450kms on it:

Had the fan fuse blow at 300kms as you did, replaced it and its been fine since...
bent rear brake disc shield on inside of the wheel, Must have caught a branch or small rock in there...
Also had shifter issues (hard to shift and whatnot) dealer adjusted and it seems way better now (time will tell)

Had an issue where it bogged right down when i tried to accelerate last time out... I just brought it in for its break-in service and picked it up today. Going for a run tomorrow so hopefully its all good now.. Dealer seems to think maybe it was water in the gas perhaps..

Otherwise been a good machine so far, I dont baby it either so Im happy so far..

The rear suspension hits a little harder than I would prefer but my dealer says to put some more miles on it before I adjust the springs to ensure they have settled in..

going to add a RZR 800 style 2" suspension lift in the near future and some bigger tires, maybe some wheel spacers to bring the width out to 63"

A bad spark plug can & will cause this, have they been changed & are you sure.

If you remove them replace them. The cost is silly just to inspect. I don't bet, I would bet your problem is this simple.
Title: 2012 CFMOTO X-6 (Terralander) Long Wheel Base (2 seater)
Post by: shanewoodsman on October 15, 2019, 08:10:08 PM
This is my first post ever and I am grateful I found this - I have not been able to find out much of what I purchased and it was not right after I purchased it (one owner trade-in).  It has been in the shop 3 months - the ignition was giving me issues and the shifting was terrible.  Luckily I posted a review of the dealer on Google and the owner agreed to take it back to fix it.  So far they changed the ignition switch, later the fuel pump, adjusted the shifter and other things, and found out a shock was bad - and waited 2 months to get the replacement.  I desperately need help - I don't know what to do.  When I bought it, it had everything I wanted (camo, nice rims, a winch, 2 seater, nice instrument panel, 4 wheel drive, independent suspension, etc.  (I am retired and have a bad back) but I am scared to death to keep it (get it back) and scared to trade it back in (the dealer wants to put me in a Yamaha because he is concerned about the reliability of a Chinese ATV).  I don't know what to do - if it would run like a Japanese ATV it has everything that I want..... but will it ever run this way?  Should I keep it (I was planning on putting 26" tires and spacers on it) or be greatful that the dealer will give me my purchase value in trade (around 3k) and move on - the Yamaha Kodiak loaner I got right now is so reliable but it has none of the features the CFmoto has - not even close.  Advice please.  Thanks Shane

Welcome Shane. Sorry to hear about all the troubles. I just gota say it straight-out..the 2012 & 13 CFMs most had more issues then they were worth....some much more then others. In all fairness some have great luck with them. The newer ones are much better but none will ever be the quality and as dependable as any Japanese maker. I suggest you take what you can get for the X-6 and get all you can..and if you like Yamaha, and who wouldn't...go for the Grizz as loaded as you can. Then add stuff you want later as you go. That way you can hit the trails without worry.  Also consider the Kawasaki Brute Force..2012 or newer or the Susuki King Quad. All fine, dependable machines. Not to throw the baby out with the bath water but if the dealer has a leftover CForce 800, that's also worth having.

Hi Shane & welcome  :)

Sounds like your dealer is trying to help even as far returning the original dollar value you paid for the ATV. I would listen to his comments regarding product support as they are the ones dealing with that day in day out. There is price difference & what comes with that is the grief factor you can live with.

One thing I've learned with this brand is their are no standards in the after service & brand representation. I've always been a firm believer in top down management, so if the manufacturer does not have strong beliefs in these area.....we have a problem.

I have had a 2019 Z8 Trail for a few months and, so far, not a lot of issues.  I do have a small drip coming from the water pump, but it doesn't seem to increase and may be getting slower.  Today, I took it out and when I put it back on the rack I noticed moisture showing in both headlights.  Gas mileage is good and it runs up to 68-70 anytime I want to go that fast.  I'll be under warranty until late June 2020, so I don't know if it's worth hauling to the dealer until next spring.

I have two 2020 500H.O. eps and one 2019 600 2up machine so 3 in total.
A total of 165 miles on all 3, mainly NH Maine technical rocky rirverbed type climbs as thats really the main type of area i live in.
No Issues to date, Except,, OMG the plastic "dust plates" or pretend skid plates are atrocious if any type of debris kicks up, as Ive been given 2 new ones from the dealer that ripped off, and it really doesn't mauch at all.
so, I had to have the dealer help to buy skid plates for all 3 units from RIVAL as i liked their design and fit and finish more than most at 500 a machine, ugh! I wish they just installed the real skid plates from the factory, but they DONT have any! CFMOTO has awe-full accessories, aside from the usual "Brush Guard" they have they really dont have any CFMOTO branded extra's..
Other than that, I lov'em, but the dealer is really the key, mine in Lebabon Maine is outstanding so Its all Good!

2015 zforce 800, 818 miles.

Bought 3 months ago with 3XX miles.

Only issues I have had so far:

-Thermoswitch (toggled it up)
-Battery terminal post snapped off (quick steel solved)
-Fan just quit working again on toggle.  Will solve soon.
-Winch cable jumped off of reel and binded.  30 min take apart solved.
-Havent had enough free time to keep riding!

Rode it around 200 miles in one day and never worried once.  Actually surprised a few people with how well it climbed and pulled itself through mud holes.

Will be turning it into a dedicated mud machine over the winter with bigger lift and tires, snorkel, etc.

My previous ride was a 2016 Zforce 800 EX
Sold it with 4700 miles! Replaced rod bearings at 2000 miles, 1 set went bad other set real good condition. About $200 in parts and back running!
No other issues other than it was a pain to clean the air filter all the time!
Great machine for the $$$$.
Bought a new 2020 CF Moto 950 Sport, I have 1600 miles on it already with no issues!

Purchased a new CFMOTO ZForce 800EX in 2018.  The motor had to be rebuilt under warranty less than a year after purchase.  400 miles later and the motor is locked up.  This is the biggest piece of junk.  Should have bought a Polaris.  I am out 12k now... CFMOTO will not fix.  Though lesson learned... DO NOT BUY CHINESE CRAP.

Recently sold my 2017 Zforce 800 EX which I purchased new January 2017.  It was a great machine.  Paid MSRP out the door for it at the local dealer.  4775 miles on it now.  This wasn't my first SxS but it was a much better machine than the Arctic Cat that it replaced.  No regrets.

It wasn't without issues, but none of them are.  My biggest issue was the front diff mounts tore when I was trying to get out of a spot in 4wd.  Could have taken it back under warranty but knew I could fix it better than they could (had to weld some tabs in place of the existing mounting tabs).  The exhaust springs/gaskets wore out.  Replaced all of the bushings, but put SuperATV a-arms on it anyway.  Replaced the shocks with something much better suited to the machine.  Had one ball joint wear out.  The only time it left me stranded was when the battery up and died.  Most of this was typical, wear-out type stuff.  The Zforce went everywhere all the high dollar machines went that I ride with.  It wasn't the biggest, baddest, fastest, but for what it cost it was very capable.  Just gotta keep up on maintenance, replace stuff that wears out, and make sure the air filter is clean.

2021 CForce 800 EX, Have 260 miles on it so far with two complaints.
1: On the 2022 models they fixed the evap system. I had to fix it on my 2021:                                                                                                                                                                                                                   2: The power steering is weak. I get bump steer almost like no power steering sometimes. My old 2006 Polaris sportsman 700 never had any bump steer riding the same places i do now. If i could get stronger power steering the quad would be perfect for me.

2022 zforce 800 trail
320 miles
5 months old

No mechanical issues so far. Upgraded air filter, greased it, changed motor oil & filter, and changed transmission oil, all at 200 miles. Trouble free so far.

However, when i first got this machine, it had the new engine/transmission design. Well, i called the dealer and explained the situation. The owners manual i got says 1 dip stick for motor oil behind the passenger seat but mine has another dip stick back by the rear passenger tire. I wanted to confirm which dip stick was for motor oil, and which one was for transmission oil  and get this....service dept said they would get back to me. Parts dept knew nothing about a new engine design on the late 2022's. I had to do my own research to get it right. I had heard of one feller puttin motor oil in the transmission because thats where his manual said the oil fill was. So, if anyone is confused, on the late 2022 zforce 800 trail, motor oil dip stick is back by the rear passenger tire.....transmission dip stick is the one behind the passenger seat. Look at the owners manual for the cforce 800xc engine. Its the same engine as the 2022 zforce 800 trail.
Other than that, i love this thing.......so far

Something learned from experience:
The plastic skid plats work well in snow, they slide easily.  Perhaps not as stout as some may want, but Ok for most places.

The aluminum skid plates cost $$$ and stick to snow, do not slide.  Stronger in one way, less efficient in another way.

Steel skid plated slide on snow and are strong.  Cost unknown.  However, they are heavy, and nearly all CFMoto machines are too heavy already and don't need more (Ford Advert) "Road Hugging Weight".

Your choice.
YMMV

2023 cforce 600 touring. Purchased 8-1-23. Is now 6 months old with 3000 miles. Girlfriend and I always ride 2 up and as you can see, we ride OFTEN. The only problem I had was I had to adjust the shift rod slightly as it would sometimes jump out of low gear. (Easy fix) also sometimes it would not display or go into 4wd on occasion which I discovered  one of the 2 front axle relays was bad and I replaced it with a $7.00 exact relay from auto zone. No other issues whatsoever. I'm extremely pleased with my purchase so far. Having said that, we do not go in deep water past the floorboards but it is put through the paces. Every ride averages 40 to 60 miles in the Ocala national forest. I'm anal about maintenance and do it all myself as I don't trust the dealerships. Also on original cvt belt.
