GF as you said you can only speak to your experience as I can only speak to mine.  My friends wolverine I think is the first model year they came out, I have no idea if they changed anything since then they only came out 2014 or 2015?  In my experience he has reliability over me, I have performance over him regardless what what parts are used in what machine. There a good and bad apples in every product line yes, but CFM cost a lot less than other machines, they are saving the money somewhere and I believe it is in quality. Time will tell though I imagine I will probably keep my machine and replace an engine within 1000 miles if that's the only real issue I have and keep it for 15 years I won't say it was a bad buy. Whats a new engine cost? $2500?

There are people getting real miles out of CFMs...6+K and people getting much less. Some of it is use and some of it is build or material quality that dictate it's life. Seems that when a CFM engine gets past a certain point, it either lasts a reasonable length of time or it falls off quickly. Looks like the ones that were broke in correctly, have always had the proper oil used and changed as needed, always had clean air and not overheated tend to be among the ones that get the long life and high miles. In some cases, no matter what, material flaws or other manufacturing deficiencies will take one out- no matter how it was treated, but as owners it's my view we should take steps to ensure that if it does fail, it isn't from anything we did..or didn't do. That's why I am such an advocate of clean air, correct and clean oil and other fluids, no overheating and regular maintenance. I need mine to last...and so far.. it looks like it's going to be in the batch that does.
